Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Laursen and The Saint Michael Project for coming all the way from Burnsville, MN to give each of our department staff a blessed Saint Michael medal. Your pet gets loose and is dropped off by a Good Samaritan at the police department. What happens now, you ask? If your pet is properly collared and tagged, we make every attempt to contact you to make pick-up arrangements. If your pet has no ID on it, Dane County Humane transports him/her to their facility in Madison. They can charge you a Service Fee and a Redemption Fee before returning the animal to you. (It costs them money to transport, house and staff their facility for the many animals that get separated from their owners.) Investing in a quality collar and identification (tags) will prevent you, and your pet, significant hassle and cost in the future.
