Date: January 9, 2018 Genoa City Police Department reports enforcement results from “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” impaired driving initiative As part of state and national efforts to help keep roadways safe for all travelers, Genoa City officers made 64 traffic stops during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiative from December 15, 2017 through January 1, 2018. While the focus was on impaired drivers, officers also issued citations and made arrests during traffic stops for the following:  7 safety belt violations  22 speeding violations  2 operating after revocation or suspension violations  8 miscellaneous traffic citations  3 vehicle registration citations  17 Warnings Impaired or reckless drivers endanger everyone and are a tragedy waiting to happen. Although we make arrests and write citations as warranted, our primary goal is to encourage voluntary compliance with laws that are in place to help keep everyone as safe as possible.

Another great year for Shop with a Cop. The kids decorated trees for nursing home residents while they ate great pizza, all before their shopping spree with our officers! UPDATE: MAIZIE RETURNED HOME!! MISSING DOG Maizie is a 2 year old boxer and is scared of strangers. She wandered off from the BP Amoco area on Elizabeth Lane in Genoa City around 9am this morning (10/11/17). On 08/22/17 the Genoa City Police Department responded to the Genoa City Foods for a burglary with a monetary loss of approximately $2,500.00, not including property damage. Surveillance shows a silver vehicle backing up to the front door at approximately 11:45 pm on 08/21/17 and three subjects entering the business after breaking the glass window on the south side of the business. All three suspects were wearing dark clothing. Suspect # 1: Wearing hoody that displays a multi-colored Macintosh "apple" logo on the front with a yellow shirt underneath the hoody. Suspect is also wearing black pants with a white stripe down the sides of each leg. It is believed this suspect is of a larger physical build based on the suspect removing and carrying a large safe to a vehicle without assistance. Suspect also appears to be to have lighter colored skin. Suspect #2: Wearing a darker gray or black hoody and lighter colored (possibly white) scarf and black “ski mask.” Suspect is wearing is pants or shorts that have white stripe on each leg to the knee area and overall white tennis shoes. Suspect also appears to be to have lighter colored skin. Suspect #3: Wearing a darker gray or black hoody. Suspect is wearing is wearing pants (possibly jeans). FYI: The intersection at Franklin & Carter is going to be impassable due to construction at that intersection. After hours, the only traffic allowed through the area will be residents who live in the immediate area. Please use caution when entering or exiting. There will be a very large drop-off.
