Open Burning Ban (7/18/16) Message from Fire Chief Greg Palmieri (7/18/16): Due to the current water supply limitation impacting our fire hydrant lines along with the weekend drying, I am suspending burn permit authorization until we receive several days of moisture allowing penetration at depth, effective immediately. The forecast calls for some rain starting tomorrow and I expect by week's end to lift the burn restriction as a result.

An apple iphone was turned into police dispatch today. Contack the police department and give the phone number to claim. The iphone was not in a case.

Interim Police Chief Dryden, Officer Long, Officer Brown, and Officer Welch participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Haines "Bowl for Kids' Sake" event at the Haines Elementary School. In the 24 hours before the event, the Haines Borough Police Department was able to raise a total of $530 to contribute towards BBBS services in Haines. HBPD had a blast at the bowling event and would like to thank everybody that contributed to BBBS.

The Haines Borough Police Department is participating in the "Bowl for Kids Sake" event with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Haines. The event is used to raise money for BBBS children, families, and events, as well as background checks for volunteers. At the end of the event, all the teams will participate in a bowling competition. HBPD will be bowling tomorrow evening at 7pm at the Haines Elementary School Gym. Blotter- Thursday, 2/25/16 •1046: An anonymous caller requested information regarding child custody and he was referred to the courts. •1646: A civil packet was received to be served on a Haines man. •1647: Court information regarding a hearing was received to be served on a Haines woman. •1946: A 911 call was determined to be an accidental dial. •2210: A 911 call regarding a trespass resulted in the arrest of the complainant, Michael DENADEL, 26, of Haines, for DV Assault IV. Blotter- Wednesday, 2/24/16 •0617: A caller reported a woman sleeping in an apartment complex laundry room on Main Street. Police responded and the woman left to stay at a friend’s home. •1153: A caller on Mud Bay Rd reported that someone had used his home without permission to sleep in while he was gone on vacation and the spare key was missing. Officer advised. •1630: A protective order was received and served on a Haines woman. •2138: A caller reported that someone had broken into a neighbor’s home while the neighbor was away. Police investigated and found that there was a house sitter at the reported house and the caller was advised that the person and vehicle seen were authorized to be at that home. •0238: An alarm was reported in a public building on Haines Highway. Police responded and found the authorized employee inside and the alarm was reset. Medical- 1

Blotter- Tuesday, 2/23/16 •1228: A 911 open line call was traced to an answer system. A message was left. •2055: A woman reported that she had been assaulted by another woman in a local bar. Police investigated and a case was generated. •2256: A caller reported her vehicle tire had been punctured by a rock that was still in the road at 9 mile Haines Highway. AST advised and Haines Police assisted by driving out to inspect the roadway.

Blotter- Monday, 2/22/16 •1005: Dispatch received a call from a business in Whitehorse, YT requesting HBPD’s assistance contacting an owner of a vehicle left at their facility for the past two weeks. Dispatch advised an HBPD Officer. •1547: A local man called to report a vehicle blocking the roadway on 4th ave. Dispatch advised HBPD officer who contacted the business owner and advised not to block the roadway from this point forward. •1847: A local woman called to report that she located a water cap that came off a pipe on Main St. the woman stated that she moved the cap out of the roadway. Dispatch advised Water and Sewer. •2214: A HBPD Officer conducted a traffic stop resulting in the arrest of 32yr old Angelica SWEET of Haines for Driving while license revoked. SWEET was lodged into HRJF and then released OR. •2254: A local man called to report a large turkey in the middle of the road on Beach Rd. The man stated that it appeared to be a domesticated turkey. Blotter- Sunday, 2/21/16 •0517: A local woman called to request an officer respond for a domestic disturbance. The woman stated that she requested a male to leave her residence but instead he fell asleep in her truck on her property. HBPD officers responded to the residence and arrested 35 year old Michael HENDERSON of Haines for Violation of conditions of release, and a no contact order. HENDERSON was lodged in HRJF. •1141: A woman called to inquire information regarding child custody. Dispatch referred the woman to the court. •1749: HBPD officer advised that he would be removing large chunks of ice off the roadway on Letnikoff Rd. Canine- 1

Blotter- Saturday, 2/20/16 •0817: A woman called to report a fraudulent call. Dispatch advised the women that there is the option available to contact her phone service provider to have the number blocked. •1233: A local women called to report hearing a loud “boom” from the upstairs apartment on 2nd ave. The women stated that she would attempt to contact the apartment manager. No further action taken at this time. •1432: Dispatch received a hang-up 911 call with no caller ID. Dispatch was unable to call the number back. No further action taken at this time. •1532: Dispatch received a report at 22 Mile Haines Highway of a single vehicle rollover accident. The women reported there were no injuries. Dispatch advised AST who requested an HBPD officer to respond. HBPD officer responded to the scene and made contact with all of the occupants in the vehicle. •1732: A local woman called to report almost hitting a pedestrian because her vehicle slid on the ice on 2nd ave. Dispatch advised public works who stated they would respond. •1815: A local man reported a suspicious vehicle on Union St. Dispatch advised an HBPD officer who responded. Dispatch advised an HBPD officer who responded and spoke with the man in question. •0947: A man came into the PD to report getting a fraudulent email. Dispatch advised an HBPD officer who spoke with the man. •1222: A warrant hold was requested from a California law enforcement agency, individual was located and taken into custody pending a extradition hearing. •1300: A local woman called to report three individuals have been breaking into her basement during the night to go through her belongings to find things to steal. Dispatch received a call from the same woman shortly after the initial report stating that she made contact with her neighbor who had cut the trees down, the women requested the call to be cancelled •1240: A local woman called to report losing her cell phone in the past 24 hours. •1645: A woman called to report a white pickup truck parked on Bjournstad and Muncaster since noon. Dispatch advised an HBPD officer. •2116: Dispatch received a fire alarm call from an alarm company for a business in the Fort Seward area. Dispatch advised HVFD who responded to the business. •2301: A woman called to request a welfare check done on her daughter and a local man. The caller was advised to contact an attorney. •1743: A caller reported his fire alarm went off but he did not find any smoke or flames and stated it may also be a carbon monoxide detector. Blotter- Monday, 2/15/16 •0036: An alarm for a Haines Highway business was received from an alarm company. HBPD responded, business responsible responded and scene was secured. •0915: A 911 call was received reporting a boat on fire at a storage facility. Multiple callers reported the same incident. HVFD responded and extinguished the fire. •1944: HBPD Officers investigated suspicious vehicles at a Haines Hwy. business which turned out to be the owners. •2348: Multiple callers reported a fight in progress in the area of Haines Hwy and the Post Office. HBPD responded resulting in the arrest of 26 yr. Darian Bliss for DV Assault 4, Assault on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. Bliss was lodged in the Haines Rural Jail Facility. Medical- 1

Blotter- Sunday, 2/14/16 •1238: A local Haines man called to request dispatch contact another local man due to him being out of town. Dispatch attempted to contact the man but the number was out of service. •1424: Dispatch received a report of a man under the cruise ship dock yelling and swearing. Dispatch advised HBPD officers who responded and attempted to make contact with the individual but the man was gone on arrival. •2213: Dispatch received a call from a local woman reporting hearing the sound of 4 gun shots. The woman stated that she was near the Haines Sportsman’s Association and that it just seemed strange at this time of night that someone would be shooting. Dispatch advised AST and HBPD officers. Blotter- Friday, 2/12/16 •1141: A local woman on Young Rd. called to report a suspicious woman walking down her driveway. Dispatch advised an HBPD officer who responded and spoke with the woman. A related party was contacted to come to the area to assist. •1221: A caller reported his vehicle being hit in a parking lot at a local business on the Haines Highway. The man stated that he was unsure who struck his vehicle. Dispatch advised a HBPD officer who responded and spoke with the caller. Traffic- 1

Blotter- Thursday, 2/11/16 •0202: Dispatch received a 911 call from a local woman requesting an officer to respond to her residence. The woman stated that she had just been assaulted and the assailant was refusing to leave her property. Dispatch advised an officer who responded to the residence and arrested 35 year old Melissa KING for Attempted Burglary in the First Degree, Assault IV, and Criminal Mischief. KING was lodged at the Haines Rural Jail Facility. •0522: Dispatch received a call from a local man reporting a vehicle partially in the road way at 8 ½ Mile Haines Highway. The man stated that the vehicle appears to have slid off of the road. Dispatch requested that the man check the vehicle for the plate number. As the man was checking he noticed that the vehicle was occupied by male. The man stated that there were no injuries. Dispatch advised AST who requested an HBPD officer to respond. HBPD officer responded and arrested and lodged 29 year old Kodi CARL for DUI. •1304: Dispatch received a call from AST requesting an officer go to 4.5 Mile Haines Highway to check on a report of a injured animal.
