Every school year, Chief Dutra, along with other male figures in our community, participates in the Guys Read program. These readers volunteer their lunch hour to read to male 4th grade students for a three week period. Doing this encourages the students to continue reading and gives them an opportunity to engage with the male figures in their community. Guys Read wants to show students that even adults who have some of the most interesting jobs, still think reading is cool and important. This year, Chief Dutra has read at North Pole Elementary, and will be reading to the students at Ticasuk Brown Elementary this week.

Officer Tibbetts spent time talking with Julie, a local Cub Scout out of Ft. Wainwright, regarding bicycle safety and laws. By speaking with Officer Tibbetts, Julie was able to complete all of the requirements to obtain a Rolling Tigers belt loop for her Cub Scout uniform. We are so glad we could help her earn this achievement!

Chief Dutra and Lieutenant Lindhag assisted with the 365 days of Remembering event on September 11th at the Fairbanks Food Bank. Chief and Lt., along with the individuals pictured below packaged food bags to be distributed throughout our community.
