Over the last few days we have made stops at Emmanuel Christian, Newton Elementary, Midland City Elementary and G.W Long Elementary to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. We saw lots of smiling faces and got to show off our helicopter, robots, drones and everyone’s favorite, K9 Eddy. Thanks for having us guys!

Mr. Ott has been located and is ok. Thank you for the shares!

Thank you Ozark Baptist Church for feeding us today as part of “Love Ozark Week.” The food was great and the fellowship was even better.

Thank you Carroll HS for having us today! We had a great time!

Join us this Friday at CVS in Ozark as we help celebrate “Love Ozark Week!” We will have deputies and staff on hand to collect your expired or unwanted medications. Come see us!

Dale County is under a mandatory curfew from 6 PM today until 7 AM Thursday. Please stay off the roadways. First responders are seeking shelter and only responding to emergency calls at this time.

Due to the forecasted impacts from Hurricane Michael our front office personnel along with the Dale County Courthouse will be closed tomorrow. Beginning early Wednesday morning we will have additional deputies and other resources available to handle the impacts from the storm. Storm shelters will be available at the Ozark Civic Center and the Daleville Cultural Arts Center. We urge everyone to stay off the roadways unless absolutely necessary. Also the Ozark/Dale County E911 Center will be extremely inundated with calls for the next 48 hours. Please only use the E911 system if you have a true emergency so we can quickly and efficiently manage the calls for service. This is a serious storm with possible life-threatening implications. Please take the necessary action now to protect yourself and others. If you need us we will be there!

Come see us today in downtown Ozark at the annual Claybank Jamboree. We are located inside the Dale County Republican Party Headquarters at the corner of South Union Ave and Reynolds St. We are raffling off a watch to support our Project Lifesaver Program as well as prizes and stickers for the kids. We also have Deputies on hand to sign you up for the Yellow Dot Program. Stop by and see us!

It appears that our computer network and emails have been compromised. We have our IT contacts working to investigate the severity of the incident. Due to this we have temporarily disabled our online pistol permit portal until this issue can be resolved. If you have received a email or conducted any electronic communication with us within the last 7-10 days please monitor your financial information online for any unauthorized transactions or suspicious activity. We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working diligently to correct the issue.

Update: All lanes of Hwy 231 are open at this time. Traffic Alert: major traffic accident involving a commercial vehicle HWY 231 @ The Twin Bridges. Please use alternate route.

You have asked for it so here it is. Starting Monday, October 1st, we will make our pistol permit process available online. Just visit www.daleso.com and click on the pistol permit tab and follow the steps. Once the background check is complete we will mail you the permit to the address provided. We will also have a kiosk set up in the lobby for those that wish to stop by M-F 8am-445pm and pay with a credit card. Our staff has worked very hard to make this happen but with anything new we anticipate some challenges along the way so please be patient with us and allow yourself a little extra time to get your permit. Active duty military you still need to come in so we can take your picture for the permit unless you have an Alabama drivers license. Have a safe weekend!

Traffic Alert: 18-wheeler rollover Hwy 231 near the Rest Area. NB and SB lanes are blocked. Please avoid the area.

Do you have any old outdated medication or some that you don’t need anymore? Come see us today from 8am-1230pm at Jack’s Drugs on Hwy 231 in Midland City. We have partnered with SpectraCare and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System for our Prescription Drug Take Back. We will have our “Drug Terminator” on scene to properly destroy your medications onsite. We would like to thank SpectraCare for providing the “Drug Terminator” (mobile drug incinerator) at no cost to DCSO. Come see us!!

Just before 1pm deputies and MCPD executed a high risk arrest warrant on Kelly Ave near Midland City Elementary School. As a precaution MCES was placed on a soft lockdown while deputies executed the warrant. Additional personnel to include an SRO were on the campus of MCES to ensure the safety of the students and staff. The subject was found hiding inside the residence and taken into custody.

Welcome back students, teachers and support staff. We look forward to helping you have safe and successful school year. As we start this day off we would like to remind motorists to use extreme caution while traveling this morning especially in areas near our school campuses. We will have a heavy presence in and around our schools to help ease some of the congestion. Please be patient as we get back in the morning routine and allow a few extra minutes for your commute. We are looking forward to a great year! Be Safe!
