If you're not aware and haven't been watching the news we have a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico named Michael as of this point he is on a path for the panhandle of Florida and currently looks like will make landfall Wednesday afternoon or evening. Everyone should pay attention Michael appears to be pretty strong and will intensify. We should start seeing some winds and effects late Tuesday afternoon. Be advised there are no approved storm shelters in Geneva County. If you live in a home that is unstable you might want to make arrangements to stay with friends possibly to the west of us. We will try to keep you posted but as of now the governor has declared a state of emergency for Alabama. Please watch the news and stay alert for further details thank you.

TOO clarify our last post about the two people looking for dogs which is what we posted about. This has nothing to do with the people who have been followed. There are similar description vehicles with same number of persons but we believe this to be two separate investigations. We are saying we have the investigation into the person asking about dogs cleared. We and the Neighborhood watch are still looking for a light colored SUV vehicle that is following people.

Over the last few days have been getting reports of a silver SUV occupied by a male and a female riding in the Chancellor area asking people about some lost dogs. This has caused alot of concern with our citizens in the area. The Chancellor Neighborhood Watch memebers have been looking while on their patrols trying to locate this vehicle. Last night one of our citizens called into dispatch and provided some information that they had from an incident they had obtained when they encountered the subjects. This morning using this information we were able to make contact with the individuals and question them. They are a mother and son from Oklahoma and intend to move back within a week. They currently live in Enterprise. They did have some dogs at a friends residence in the Coffee Springs/Chancellor area and they went missing. 13 of the 14 dogs have been located and are in a local animal shelter. We confirmed this with the manager of the shelter. The individuals now understand the alarm they were causing and are apologetic and have agreed to cease knocking on peoples doors. Thanks to all the people that helped us to bring this to a conclusion.

SCAM ALERT!!!!!!!!! People are getting calls and voice messages saying their SSN and accounts have been compromised and warrants are being processesed with thge local sheriff and they can take care of it for a fee. It's a scam !!!!!!

I have had a citizen advise that she is recieving calls from a subject claiming he is with Publishers Clearing House saying the citizen has won .IT'S A SCAM!!!!!!!! She has also had calls from Bank Of America, same thing folks it's a scam. Thankfully our citizen took down the info and looked up the number to both these organizations called and verified it was a scam. She decided she was not going to be a victim. People don't give info out over the phone. Don't fall for the "you have to pay taxes first" deal. Don't go buy gift cards to pay taxes or fees. IT'S A SCAM!
