Centerton Police Department News

Our officers had a great time shopping with Bravis Agency today. It was a fun time for a great cause. The Centerton, AR - Fraternal Order of Police received enough donations to provide 12 families with a Thanksgiving meal. Special thank you to Bravis Agency for the full set up, Cargill for the turkeys, and Centerton Neighborhood Market for the donation of rolls.

Don’t miss our fraternal order of police trunk or treat tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen, we will have officers up at the police department from 10am till 12pm today collecting old prescriptions. This is part of the Arkansas drug take back event that is done across the state today. Let’s keep prescriptions out of the hands of children and teens by disposing of them properly. Thank you

Ladies and gentlemen, members of our Fraternal Order of Police and auxiliary FOP are down at the fall festival at the city park on Main Street until 5pm. They are selling baked goods and have two donation towers set up for Shop with an Officer. Get on down and grab some delicious baked goods and support a great cause. Every dollar counts when it comes to the children in our community. Centerton Mayor-Bill Edwards

Please come out and support our Centerton, AR - Fraternal Order of Police on October 27th, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for their annual Trunk or Treat. This year the event will be held at Kinyon Sports Complex just north of Gamble Elementary. The FOP is still in need of volunteers to hand out candy from their trunks. There will be a prize package for best decorated trunk. Also a big thanks to Bravis Agency for all of their support for the men and women in blue. They have stepped up and helped out tremendously with this event. They have some fun games, prizes, and activities planned so you don't want to miss out.

Please see attached for an update on the Castle Rental and Pawn burglary.

In May of 2017, Centerton officers took an initial report from the Fayetteville Police Department regarding a sexual assault that occurred in our city. The suspect, Damon White, was a citizen of Centerton and was suspected of sexually assaulting two minors. An intensive investigation was initiated which included a search warrant for White’s residence. Most of the items that were seized were computers, cameras, and electronic storage devices. Detectives sought search warrants for all of the devices, which were then transferred to special agents with the department of Homeland Security Investigations in Fayetteville. During the initial stages of the forensic device searches, it was suspected that the items had been cleared. After hard work, determination, and dedication by the special agent conducting the searches, he was able to recover multiple very important videos. The videos, which are too graphic to describe, showed investigators and prosecutors an actual inside look to the heinous crimes that were committed. Today, a year and four months later, Damon White pleaded guilty to the crimes listed below. He was sentenced to 100 years in Arkansas Department of Corrections. We want to thank everyone that had anything to do with the success of this case. Including our own Detective Nicholson, who has been working this case from start to finish.

**UPDATE** The wanted suspect from yesterday’s post turned himself into the Police Department. We kept our word and deleted the post. Thank you for the shares.

Ladies and gentlemen, Please see below where Centerton Lake is closed until the event tomorrow. This will be strongly enforced by our department. 🎣 = 👮‍♂️ 🚔 👍 Also with Centerton Day being tomorrow, there will be officers and other city workers out and about on ATVs assisting with the 5k and 10k run, the parade, and other traffic areas within the city. We are starting bright and early, so don’t be alarmed if you see one in your neighborhood. Just smile and wave... with all of your fingers please 😉 👮‍♂️👨‍🚒👷‍♂️ 🚓🚒🚧

***UPDATE*** Ladies and gentlemen, the male in the photos from Casey's that was posted yesterday has been identified. Thank you for all of the tips on the identity of the individual.

Good morning, Everyone meet West High School Resource Officer Vj Wilson. Officer Wilson has been a certified officer for just shy of 5 years. He started his career at the Bella Vista Police Department before taking a small stint as a firefighter. He soon realized he missed law enforcement. Officer Wilson has been with the Centerton Police Department just over a year now. He is a swat officer with the Centerton PD swat team, a certified drug recognition expert, and a certified bicycle officer. This will be his first full year as a school resource officer and he is excited for the opportunity. Due to training earlier this week, today is his first day at school. Make sure you give him a big West Wolverine welcome.

We would like to thank the citizens in our community that continued to support us this week as our name was slandered across social media. Hateful comments and messages were sent to us well before we had a chance to defend ourselves. We didn’t post the video on our page due to the strong language displayed. We try to be a page that is suitable for all ages. The Centerton, AR - Fraternal Order of Police posted the full version of the videos. Today a nice woman paid for our officer’s lunch and left this note behind. Ma’am we don’t know who you are but we definitely appreciate the gesture and the continued support. Thank you for sticking by us and waiting for both sides of the story before passing judgement.

As the new school year approaches, we need to be aware of school zone speed limits, use of cell phones in school zones, pedestrians, and stopped school buses. Centerton Police Officers will be out in force stopping and ticketing individuals who fail to stop for stopped school buses with their red lights flashing, speeding in the (25mph) school zone, and being on their phones while in a school zone. Also be mindful of children walking to school, especially on Gamble Road between Bliss Street and Seba Road, due to there not being any sidewalks. There is also a crosswalk in front of West High School that everyone needs to be mindful of. This year West will have just shy of 2,000 students. That's a lot of vehicular and foot traffic. Please be careful and let's have a great start to a great new year of school.

Ladies and gentlemen, a firearm was recovered today in the roadway at N Vaughn Road and W Centerton Blvd. It was still in the case and is still in great condition. If this firearm belongs to you, please come by the police department and retrieve your item. You will have to provide a description, including serial number and a background check done to confirm you are legally able to possess a firearm in the State of Arkansas. If you have any questions please contact our Criminal Investigations Division at 479-795-4431 Ext. 4

***UPDATE*** Update to the theft suspect video from yesterday. Both suspects have been identified, located, and charged. The power of Facebook prevails again. Thank you everyone for the shares.

Congratulations to Officer Nick Dentis and Officer Tippin Wilson on completing the Northwest Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. We are glad you graduated, now get your butts on the streets... the citizens need you.

Prayers to the Joplin Police Department tonight. They lost one of their own to a tragic motorcycle accident. The officer was off duty at the time and on a motorcycle ride with his wife. They both passed away. They would have been celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary this weekend.
