I would like to update everyone on the events of the past few days and my condition as many are inquiring, calling and sending messages. On Wednesday morning we received info that the subject arrested the night before might not be the person who fled from the accident west of Booneville the day prior. We immediately started following up on other possibilities that lead to my contact with the suspect that was arrested after an all day manhunt on Wednesday. As far as my condition, I chased the suspect of foot and tackled him yesterday injuring my right shoulder and right arm in the process. The suspect was then able to pull away from me just as another Officer arrived and he and I pursued him for a couple more blocks before he made it into a wooded area. We immediately set up a perimeter and held it until we could get dogs, more help and a helicopter there. I can't say enough about all those Agencies that assisted us in this manhunt! As I said in my previous post, we have some of the most dedicated and professional Law Enforcement Officers in America right here in the River Valley. I am having a hard time typing with my left hand as my right one is useless at this point but I wanted to let you all know that I appreciate all your support, comments and prayers. I am waiting on Worker's Comp to schedule an MRI to see how much damage I have to my shoulder and arm. Whatever it is, I'll make it! The good news is the suspect is in custody! I want to again thank all my team at LCSO and all the other Officers and Citizens who called in tips and sightings. I was told today that two men from an Apartment complex and a lady there directed Officers to the suspect and may have even chased him. Who ever you are, we appreciate you and all the support the public provides to us in times like these. We couldn't do it without your prayers and support! God Bless, Sheriff Hicks

I would like to thank my awesome Team LCSO for their hard work and dedication to the Citizens of Logan County. Yesterday was an example of how sometimes many things go south at the same time and everybody on my team saddled up and took care of business! I had Deputies who started out teaching class for our new Detention Officers, then went to a vehicle theft call to a multi-car accident that lead to a manhunt that lasted into the night. I had part time Deputies who started out the day around 3:00 am transporting inmates to prison and then made it back to assist in the manhunt until late last night. And then we ended up recovering a vehicle reported stolen yesterday morning, arresting the suspects in that case (recovering drugs and a weapon in the process) and then my Criminal Investigators interviewed suspects until late in the night. All without a single complaint! To my C.I.D., Narcotics, Patrol, Dispatch, Detention Officers and Deputy Clerks, I want you to know that I appreciate you all very much and we couldn't accomplish what we do without each one of you! I am blessed of God to have you on the Team! Logan County is blessed to have you all! And to all the other Agencies who worked with us yesterday, it was amazing to see. Arkansas State Police, Booneville Police Department, Magazine Police Department, Arkansas Department of Corrections, Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Sebastian County Sheriff's Office, Logan County Road Department, Fort Smith Police Department and Greenwood Police Deparment all working together sharing information and responding to the requests and needs of each Agency in a very professional and timely manner! We have a great group of Law Enforcement Officers in the River Valley and I am proud to serve with you all! And thanks to all the Citizen's who responded with info and sightings throughout the day. You make our ability to succeed possible with your prayers and support. May God Bless You All! Sheriff Hicks

Congratulations to Chief Deputy Joshua Scott, Logan County's 2018 Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year! Sheriff Hicks
