🌟Law Enforcement Records Personnel Appreciation Day🌟 Governor Doug Ducey proclaimed today, November 8, 2018, as Law Enforcement Records Personnel Appreciation Day. This proclamation highlights the essential services that Records Personnel provide to public safety. The Pima County Sheriff's Department’s Record Maintenance Unit is an indispensable part of our department. Each month they receive and process more than a hundred request for records. They provide customer service and distribution of records, enter data into crime reporting databases and maintain our report filing system. We are thankful for our dedicated team and the support they provide to us each and every day.

We are saddened by the tragic event that took place in Thousand Oaks last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. #prayforthousandoaks 🙏🏻

**The Pima County Sheriff’s Department Awarded Grant Funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS)** The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was recently awarded four (4) grants, totaling $151.300.00, from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS). The Sheriff’s Department proudly cultivates and maintains a strong reputation with the AZGOHS based on a history of hard work, aggressive enforcement, and appropriately utilizing the funds that have been awarded within the established grant guidelines. In the past, using this important grant funding, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been able to successfully and consistently conduct a wide variety of traffic safety operations, sobriety checkpoints, and high-intensity saturation patrols which focused on DUI enforcement. Using our most recent grant funding, we will be able to continue the above-mentioned efforts as well as take advantage of new opportunities. This year’s funding will be used to support efforts such as increasing the public’s awareness about the dangers of underage drinking (Operation Safe Graduation), and occupant protection (Car Seat Safety Events, Click-it or Ticket – Buckle-Up Arizona, and National Child Passenger Safety Week). The Sheriff’s Department also received grant funds for Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety, including for Operation BUS and School Zone Enforcement. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for their continued support, and its mission to take impaired drivers off our roadways and helping to make our community a safer place to live.

⭐CONGRATULATIONS SGT. KUNZE!⭐ Every day, federal, state, and local law enforcement officers engage in exceptional acts of bravery while in the line of duty. Often, such acts place the officers involved at personal risk of injury or result in their sustaining a physical injury. To honor these acts of bravery, Congress passed the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery Act of 2008. The act establishes an award to honor exceptional acts of bravery in the line of duty by federal, state, and local law enforcement officers. The badges are awarded annually by the U.S. Attorney General and are presented by the recipients’ Congressional representatives. Today, Sgt. Kunze was presented with the Congressional Badge of Bravery for his life saving heroics of entering a burning building to rescue a woman. Congressman Raul Grijalva presented this exceptional award to Sgt. Kunze. Congratulations Sgt. Kunze for this extraordinary recognition and thank you for your actions!
