Please Share: Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) has received multiple reports of citizens receiving calls from a man identifying himself as Deputy Cox or Deputy Blalock from Butte County Sheriff's Office. The calls have been coming from 530.628.0831. The caller advises you have missed a jury summons and owe money. This is a scam, this individual is not associated to the Butte County Sheriff's Office. The individual has gone to the extent of recording a voicemail message stating he is a Deputy from BCSO. Sheriff Honea took the time to call the above number today, the individual answered, identifying himself as Deputy Cox, and stated he was currently at the Butte County Sheriff's Office in Oroville. When Sheriff Honea asked him to immediately come to his office, the individual hung up. BCSO Detectives will be looking further into this matter. Please be advised, BCSO will never call you to advise you of a warrant or request payment over the phone. This is a scam. If you receive a call like this, hang up. Do not provide any personal information. Please share.
