Tips to Avoid Door-to-Door Scams and Ways to Protect Yourself: CARD THEM 1. If someone comes to your door selling anything for profit, they must be cleared through the Kingsburg Police Department. You will know that they have been cleared by the KPD issued I.D. badge they MUST be wearing at all times! KPD will post approved solicitors on all of our social media. REQUEST DOCUMENTATION 2. If they are going door-to-door for non-profit, i.e schools and churches, they should have some documentation (brochures, catalogs, etc) showing what they are selling and why. DO SOME RESEARCH 3. If they do not have anything with them, you can always ask what school, church, or other entity they are selling for, and call them to confirm. If you are unable to confirm their legitimacy, call the KPD non-emergency line (559-897-2931) and report the activity. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS 4. Be leery of someone that asks to use the restroom or wants to come into your home. NEVER under any circumstances should you let someone into your home. Be diligent and teach any children that live in your home the same rules.
