HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – CASE UPDATE On Friday, October 26 2018, at about 2250 hours, Inglewood Police Officers were dispatched to a shooting victim in the 3300 Block of 84th Street. Responding officers found a male adult lying on the sidewalk unresponsive, suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. Preliminary information indicates that he had just exited his vehicle when he was stuck by gunfire. A dark colored sedan was seen driving away from the scene shortly after the shooting occurred. At this time, a motive is not known. Case #G.O. 18-73018. Tonight, LA County Fire Department held its First Responder Recognition Ceremony at Fire Station 161 in Hawthorne, CA. The ceremony reunited Officer Alvarez with Stephen Emery. Six months ago, Officer Alvarez participated in a triathlon in the City of Hermosa Beach. Officer Alvarez saw Mr. Emery down on the ground unconscious in cardiac arrest. He performed CPR on Mr. Emery until fire personnel arrived to transport to a local hospital. Through Officer Alvarez’ efforts, Mr. Emery survived and is here with us today. He was commended for his exemplary act of courage in providing life-saving aid to Mr. Emery. FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION On Wednesday October 3rd, 2018 at approximately 8:35 a.m., Inglewood Police Officers responded to the area of Florence Avenue and Isis Avenue in regards to a single vehicle traffic collision. Preliminary investigation indicates that a Toyota Corolla was travelling northbound on Isis Avenue and drove thru the intersection of Florence Avenue. The vehicle then collided with a concrete traffic barrier. The pregnant female driver of the Toyota, who was sole occupant, sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver and the fetus succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the hospital. Inglewood Police Department Traffic Investigators are investigating if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision. At this time the cause of the traffic collision has not been determined and remains under investigation.
