It's that time of year again...Pink Patch Project! For those who don't know, the Pink Patch Project is a public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations. It is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles Police Chiefs' Association and public safety agencies throughout the country. The program centers on vibrant pink versions of the public safety officer's uniform patch. These bright pink patches have been specially designed by each participating agency. Participating SHPD personnel will be wearing pink patches during the month of October. Last year, SHPD raised $1,000 dollars by the sale of our pink patches. The funds were donated to the City of Hope Foundation. This year we will donate our funds to the Memorial Care Todd Cancer Institute, located in Long Beach. This year we also have t-shirts (as modeled by Cadet Bugarin) available for $20 (sizes medium to XXXL). You can also purchase a pink patch for $10 each. Purchases can be made in our station lobby, Monday through Thursday, during normal business hours. Please ask for Records Supervisor Samantha Torres!

Last week, Chief Nunley (Center) had the pleasure of swearing in the following personnel into their new positions: From Left: Senior Detective Erik Grove, Sergeant Alex Gabaldon, Captain Brian Leyn, (Chief in Center), Sergeant Steve Noble, Senior Officer Jeff Poor, and Sergeant Raul Ramirez.
