PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE/TIME: 10/30/2018 1730 hours TYPE OF INCIDENT: Negligent Discharge of a Firearm LOCATION: 700 Block Canal St SUSPECT/S: Unknown ================================================================== SYNOPSIS: On above date/time officers responded to a possible shooting which had occurred at the 700 block of Canal St. in King City, Ca. While patrol units were on scene, multiple ongoing gunshots were heard from the river bed of the Salinas River. The Major Crime Unit along with allied agencies, including CHP air operations, responded to assist. A simultaneous investigation began as multiple people were contacted in the river bed. The investigation concluded the shooting occurred multiple hours prior to police arrival and the people located in the riverbed were not involved. The investigation also confirmed that a single bullet caused damage to a window due to a negligent discharge of a weapon earlier in the day. The negligent discharge damaged property only and no one was injured during this incident. King City Police Department would like to thank all of the community members that assisted with their statements, and the allied agencies that responded. Ricardo Robles LOCATION: 415 Bassett St. King City, Ca. ================================================================== Today Chief Robert Masterton Promoted Officer Ricardo Robles to the Rank of Sergeant at 10:00 am. Sergeant Robles is 19 year veteran of law enforcement. He started his law enforcement career as a King City Police Explorer in 1994 where he learned about the basic and interworking’s of a police department as well as the responsibilities of a police officer. He participated in ride-a-longs with police officers, worked crowd control at community events such as the Salinas Valley Fair and the Concourse De Elagance in Monterey. In 1996 he attended law enforcement classes at Hartnell Community College and upon completion of the classes he was appointed as a Level 1 Reserve Officer. In 1998 Sergeant Robles attended the Regular Basic Police Academy at Gabilan College and upon graduation from the police academy in 1999 he was appointed as a regular full time officer with the King City Police Department. During his tenure with the King City Police Department, Sgt. Robles has served in various facets as a Patrol Officer, Police Explorer Advisor, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer and is one of the departments less lethal weapons instructors. Sergeant Robles was pinned with his sergeants badge by his wife of 19 years Lupe. Chief Masterson would like to wish Sergeant Robles the best in his new endeavors and future assignments as a Police Sergeant. This is a telephone scam that tells residents they have won a prize with the Publishers Clearing House, it goes on to say that money for taxes on the prize must be sent in before the prize can be received. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS SCAM! There have been some cases reported in Gardena. The phone number that the scammers are calling from has been reported as 876-422-5629 but there could be other numbers that are being used as well.

South County Major Crimes INVESTIGATIONS Unit PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE/TIME: 09/04/18 1620 hours TYPE OF INCIDENT: Armed Robbery; Assault with a deadly weapon (other than firearm); resist arrest by force; Possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine); Possession of drug paraphernalia. LOCATION: 800 blk of Broadway King City SUSPECT: Jose Raul Aceves MH/ 38 yrs King City, Ca. ================================================================== SYNOPSIS: On 09/04/18 at approx. 1620 hours officers from the King City Police Department and with the assistance of the Greenfield Police Department were dispatched to a business in the 800 blk of Broadway for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Upon the officers arrival it was determined a male Hispanic took an undetermined amount of cash from the cash register at knifepoint from the clerk. The suspect then fled on a bicycle northbound on Canal St. and out of sight. Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit were called to investigate the incident. The ensuing investigation revealed the suspect entered the store, asked the clerk for a pack of cigarettes and when the clerk turned around the suspect pointed a knife at the clerk and demanded the clerk open the cash register. The clerk fearing for her safety opened the cash register and the suspect took an undetermined amount of U.S. Currency from the register. The Investigators were able to identify the male suspect as Jose Raul Aceves 38 yrs old of King City, who is also a known southern gang member, as the suspect. While Officers and Investigators were on scene, Aceves rode by the scene on his bicycle where he was confronted by the officers. Aceves was pushed off his bicycle and he fled on foot westbound on Broadway. As Aceves was fleeing he began pulling US currency out of his pockets and was throwing it in the air. The currency was recovered by the officers. A short foot pursuit ensued and Aceves was taken into custody after a short struggle in the 900 blk of Broadway. During the booking process Aceves was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a syringe. Aceves was booked at the Monterey County Jail on the listed charges. No other information is being released at this time, as the investigation is continuing. First Street, King City, Ca. SUSPECT/S: Dennison, Mariah Marie FW/ 27 yrs, Merced, Ca. Barrios, Ernesto MH/ 26 yrs. Merced, Ca. ================================================================== SYNOPSIS: On above date and time officers with the King City Police Department saw a suspicious grey Honda parked in the 900 blk of S. First St. in King City The officers ran the license plate through the California State Law Enforcement Database and it was listed as stolen out of Merced Co., the City of Merced. The vehicle was occupied by Mariah Dennison, the driver and Ernesto Barrios of Merced, CA.. Both of the subjects were taken into custody without incident by the officers and booked at Monterey County Jail on the listed charges. Barrios also had misdemeanor warrant for the Possession of Dangerous Drugs issued out of Merced Co. Superior Court as well. SUSPECT/S: Oscar Venegas MH/ 31 yrs King City, CA. ================================================================== SYNOPSIS: On August 22, 2018 at 1720 hours Officers with the King City Police Department responded to the 100 blk of River Dr. in regards to a burglary which just occurred. The preliminary investigation revealed the above listed suspect entered a residence occupied by two female juveniles and took miscellaneous items and left the residence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit were called to investigate the incident. The ensuing investigation by the Detectives of the Major Crimes Unit identified Oscar Venegas 31 years old of King City, Ca. as the suspect who entered the occupied residence through a side door and startled the two female juveniles inside the residence. The suspect directed the females to a room in the residence and had them stay in place. The suspect took some items from the females and fled the residence on foot. The suspect was last seen running in a southwesterly direction from the residence. No injuries were sustained by the juveniles. On today’s date Venegas was contacted at a residence in the 100 blk of River Dr. and was taken into custody by Detectives of the Major Crimes Unit and Patrol Officers of the King City Police Department without incident. He was transported and booked at the Monterey County Jail. A booking photo is available from the Monterey County Jail. No other information is being released at this time, as the investigation is continuing. The hoodie was drawn tight around the face partially concealing it. SUSPECT VEH: None ================================================================== SYNOPSIS: On above date/time officers with the King City Police Department responded to the 100 blk of River Dr. in regards to a burglary which just occurred. TYPE OF INCIDENT: Attempted Burglary, Probation Violation LOCATION: 200 Block of Bassett Street SUSPECT/S: Pacheco, Luis - 31 King City, California ================================================================== SYNOPSIS: On above date/time officers responded to a report of an attempted burglary at the above listed location. Luis Pacheco entered into the rear of a business and then entered a parked vehicle through a broken window. Officer Rodriguez was able to identify Pacheco on the surveillance footage from numerous contacts in the past. Pacheco was later contacted on the 700 block of Broadway Street where he confessed to Officer Rodriguez he entered the vehicle to attempt to steal items. Pacheco was arrested and transported to the Monterey County Jail. PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE/TIME: 08/15/18 1100 hours TYPE OF INCIDENT: Lewd acts on a child under 14 years old Continuous sexual abuse of a minor LOCATION: King City and City of Soledad SUSPECT/S Morales- Delagua, Marcos Antonio – 29 years Soledad, Ca. ================================================================== SYNOPSIS: In January 2018 Officers from the King City Police Department received information that a 14 year old female was being sexually abused over a period of time. The investigation was turned over to the King City Investigations Division. The ensuing investigation revealed the victim, a fourteen year old female, disclosed she had been sexually abused by a relative over a period of seven years at locations starting in King City and in the City of Soledad. The eight month investigation culminated in the arrest of Marcos Antonio Morales-Delagua 29 years old of Soledad. Morales- Delagua was booked at the Monterey County Jail on Lewd acts on a child under 14 years old and the Continuous sexual abuse of a minor. His bail has been set at $16 million dollars. This property is everything from clothes, personal belongings, and bicycles.
