This week our proactive team consisting of Placer County Probation, Auburn Police, City of Auburn Code Enforcement and a Placer Health and Human Services (HHS) representative was out within the City of Auburn looking for illegal camps and those in need of services. Areas of note checked this week was the Auburn Ravine Trail, School Park Preserve, Auburn Folsom and Brentwood Circle (RR Tracks), 900 block of Lincoln Way, Cherry Street Bridge area near RR Tracks and Highway 49 and Garfield. Our team had the opportunity to talk with a business owner (see photo) in the 900 block of Lincoln Way today. We were able to learn the time of day that a homeless person was in or around this area. We were also advised of some proactive measures (i.e. motion lights) they were taking around their business. The attached photos of staff on Auburn Folsom Road and on the railroad tracks were taken as they were checking the area for campsites. There was one abandoned campsite here on UPRR property, and UPRR is aware and working on this. The Highway 49 and Garfield tunnel area was checked and the camp appears abandoned and the property owner has been notified for cleanup. The tunnel site was previously posted. Four people were contacted on the Auburn Ravine Trail. One person was on probation in which their property was searched and there was no contraband or illegal items located. HHS was able to assist one of the out state male subjects contacted on the trail obtain and ID card. There were six contacts this week. There were no citations or arrests. Stay tuned as our team continues to work for our community to clean up camp sites and offer services to those who need them and will accept them.
