Please don’t drag race with your friends, especially in front of a Galt Police Officer. Both vehicles involved were towed for 30 days. Street racing is extremely dangerous and in violation of 23109(a) CVC, per the California Vehicle Code. 23109(a) CVC states it’s a misdemeanor to willfully participate in a speed contest, which is defined as racing your vehicle against another car, or against a clock or other timing device. #GPDCares #DriveSafe #ArriveSafe #TrafficSafety

Today is National Stop Bullying Day! According to Stopbullying.org, parents, school staff and peers have an important role in preventing bullying. Some ways they can help prevent bullying are: ✔️ Help kids understand bullying. Explain what bullying is and how to safely stand up to it. Tell them that bullying is unacceptable and make sure kids know how to get help. ✔️ Encourage kids to do what they love. Hobbies, special interests and activities can help boost a child’s confidence, help kids make friends and protect them from bullying behavior. ✔️ Keep lines of communication open. Listen to your kids. Make them feel comfortable opening up to you and check in with them often. Know who their friends are, ask about school and different activities, and understand their concerns. ✔️ Be a good role model. Know how to treat others with kindness and respect. After all, children look up to peers and adults in their life. Visit the website below for more detained information regarding bullying. ⬇️ https://www.stopbullying.gov/prevention/index.html #NationalStopBullyingDay #HelpPreventBullying

The 5th type of cancer we are warning about this month is Leukemia. Leukemia is a broad term for cancers of the blood cells. The type of leukemia depends on the type of blood cell that becomes cancer and whether it grows quickly or slowly. Leukemia occurs most often in adults older than 55, but it is also the most common cancer in children younger than 15. Please go to the NIH Website for further information at https://www.cancer.gov/types/leukemia #cancerprevention #childhoodcancers #livestrong https://youtu.be/Ya8IzYwguVM

Halloween & Yard Decor is expensive and does, on occasion, get stolen from peoples yards, here are some tips for you to help keep that from happening. This weekend while you are putting up and out all those cool, scary ghosts and goblins add some simple inexpensive theft resistant security measures. First, LIGHTING! Add extra lighting or if you can automatic flood lights that are motion activated. They pop on when anyone comes into your yard, this is a great deterrent. Second, STAKES AND FISHING LINE. Inexpensive, weather resistant, lightweight and invisible, fishing line can be tied around or too decorations and secured in the ground by stakes, (spiraled are the best stakes but camping ones are great too) and fishing line can help secure hanging decor. Third, the Dollar Store here in town stocks small "window/door" ALARMS that can be attached to large STABLE items, (this won't work for blow up items since they move to much) but you can attach one end to the item such as a headstone and the other to the stake or wood you use to secure it in the ground so if someone removes the item an alarm sounds. Finally, add your name and phone # to the inside or underside of your decorations so that if they are located we can return them to you. Take photo's of your items so that if something does go missing you can post on social media for neighbors to look out for your items.
