****PRESS RELEASE**** DATE: October 23, 2018 TYPE OF INCIDENT: Proactive Enforcement Detail LOCATION: City of Barstow SUMMARY: On October 23, 2018, at approximately 12:00 pm, the Barstow Police Department, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and San Bernardino County Probation Department conducted a proactive enforcement operation. The purpose of this operation is to reduce crime, suppress and eliminate criminal activity, and arrest and assist in the conviction of criminals. The operation was comprised of fourteen officers from the listed agencies and was an on-going effort to ensure the safety of the citizens of Barstow. During this operation, teams of officers conducted multiple residence checks and searches of subjects on probation, post release community supervision (PRCS) along with several pedestrian checks and traffic enforcement stops and arrested eleven people. At approximately 1:09 pm, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle with expired registration. While talking with Mack Palmer III (26-years-old), who was a passenger in the vehicle, officers observed he was holding contraband in his hand. Officers asked Palmer III to show what he was holding and found that he was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and was arrested. Palmer III was taken to the police department, booked and issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance – H&S 11377(a). At approximately 6:31 pm, officers attempted to contact Oscar Oropeza (36-years-old) at his residence on the 800 block of Higgins Road regarding a report of domestic violence (PC 273.5(a), kidnapping (PC 207) and criminal threats (PC 422) that occurred on October 6, 2018. Officers were unable to contact Oropeza at his residence and prior to leaving the area, observed Oropeza walking towards his residence. Officers approached Oropeza, confirmed his identity and arrested him without incident. He was later booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for the above listed charges. ***BARSTOW POLICE DEPARTMENT ARREST LOG*** OCTOBER 22, 2018 TIME DETAILS OF EVENT 0826 - Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Barstow Rd. regarding a family disturbance at a residence. As a result, DREVON BROWN (26) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for spousal abuse. 0937 - Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Rimrock Rd. regarding a domestic disturbance between a male and a female. As a result, ALYCIA PEREZ (33) was arrested for spousal abuse. 1614 - Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Virginia Way regarding a petty theft from a business. As a result, KEITHLEY SINGER (34) and WILLIE HOOKER (63) were arrested for shoplifting. 1655 - Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Sunset St. regarding suspicious circumstances where two males were going door to door asking to store their motorcycles in someone’s yard. As a result, KEONI ROJAS (27) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for trespassing. 2211 - Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Montara Rd. regarding subjects shoplifting inside of a business. As a result, STEVEN FOSTER (29) was arrested for theft and an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. 2259 - On 10/21/18, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Quartz Ln. regarding a domestic disturbance that resulted in an assault. As a result of the investigation, STEVEN BAKER (34) was identified as the suspect. On 10/23/18, BAKER responded to the Police Department lobby to speak with officers regarding the incident. As a result, BAKER was arrested for spousal abuse. 2331 - Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Windy Pass regarding a battery that had just occurred. As a result, TUSHUND MOORE (34) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for possession of metal knuckles and ROBERT JACKSON (32) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving without a license. 0742 - Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. First Ave. regarding a domestic disturbance between a male and female. Mountain View St. regarding a commercial burglary. As a result of the investigation, a burglary report was taken and video footage of an unknown male suspect was collected. On 10/16/2018, officers were again dispatched to the same location regarding a subject trespassing. As a result, TARQUAN NELSON (25) was contacted and arrested for the burglary on 10/13/18. 1153 - Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of N. Fifth Ave. regarding numerous unknown subjects trespassing inside of a vacant residence. As a result, SHAUNA CRESS (36) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for shoplifting. 1501 - Officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Lenwood Rd. regarding a domestic disturbance between and male and a female. ***PRESS RELEASE*** DATE: October 16, 2018 OFFENSE: PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder CR NUMBER: 18-4026 DATE OF INCIDENT: October 13, 2018 SUSPECT: Jeremiah Woody 18-Year-Old Barstow Resident CASE AGENT: Detective Thomas Lewis SUMMARY: On Saturday, October 13, 2018, at approximately 1:39 P.M., Barstow Police officers responded to a mobile home park located on the 1500 block of West Main St. regarding a stabbing that had just occurred. Officers responded to the scene and found the victim, a 20-year-old Hispanic male adult, suffering from several stab wounds to his head and the side of his neck. The victim reported that he was in a physical fight with another male when the male stabbed him with an unknown object. Barstow Fire Protection District responded to the scene and treated the victim for his injuries. Paramedics transported the victim via air ambulance to the Antelope Valley Hospital for further treatment. Detective Tom Lewis responded to the scene and interviewed several witnesses to the incident. Detective Lewis was able to positively identify Jeremiah Woody as the suspect who stabbed the victim. Officers and detectives conducted a search for Woody but could not locate him. On Sunday, October 14, 2015, at approximately 4:22 P.M., Officer Mathew Helms was on patrol and spotted Woody at a motel located in the 1100 block of East Main Street. Officer Helms contacted Woody and placed him under arrest without incident. Officer Helms conducted further investigation and was able to collect additional evidence linking Woody to the stabbing. Officer Helms booked Woody at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Jail in Barstow for PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder. ***PRESS RELEASE*** DATE: October 15, 2018 OFFENSE: PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder CR NUMBER: 18-4029 DATE OF INCIDENT: October 13, 2018 SUSPECT: Albert Williams III 26-Year-Old, Hinkley, CA Resident CASE AGENT: Detective Thomas Lewis SUMMARY: On Saturday, October 13, 2018, at approximately 7:32 P.M., Barstow Police Dispatch received a call regarding a stabbing that had just occurred at the Circle K Gas Station located in the 1500 block of East Main Street. The caller, who was an employee of the gas station, told dispatch that a male subject had just stabbed another male near the gas pumps and that the male suspect fled on foot toward the Ramada Inn. The caller also stated that the victim left in a vehicle driven by a female. As officers responded to the scene, Sergeant Daniel Arthur drove to Barstow Community Hospital where he located the victim. Sergeant Arthur observed that the victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his chest and neck. Barstow hospital medical staff immediately began to treat the victim’s injuries. Mercy Air transported the victim to Antelope Valley Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Sergeant Arthur talked with the female and learned that she is the victim’s fiancé. She reported that she and her fiancé were pulling into the Circle K Gas Station when they almost struck a male pedestrian crossing the roadway. She stated that when they pulled up to the pumps the male pedestrian approached her fiancé and was upset about the near collision. Suddenly the male attacked her fiancé and stabbed him several times. She stated that she was able to get her fiancé into their car and drive him to the hospital. Barstow Police detectives and evidence technicians responded to the location and processed the scene. Sergeant Arthur was able to observe the Circle K surveillance video, which captured the stabbing incident. While still on scene, Sergeant Arthur noticed a male subject near the scene, who appeared to be watching the officers. Sergeant Arthur noticed that the male subject matched the description of the stabbing suspect. He contacted the male and identified him as Albert Williams. Sergeant Arthur was able to identify Williams as the stabbing suspect depicted in the surveillance video. Detectives also conducted an infield show-up with the victim’s fiancé and she positively identified Williams as the person who had stabbed the victim. Officers arrested Williams and transported him to the Barstow Police Department. Albert Williams was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, CA. for PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder. As a result, TAYLOR MAYO (32) was arrested for shoplifting and MARCELL STOVALL (20) was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. 1209 - Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Montara Rd. regarding a male who had been detained by security for shoplifting. As a result, MARWAN HARDIE (22) was arrested for shoplifting. 1622 - On 10/13/18, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of W. ****PRESS RELEASE**** DATE: October 11, 2018 OFFENSE: PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder CR NUMBER: 18-3866 DATE OF CRIME: Tuesday, October 2, 2018 SUSPECTS: Jessie Quezada 32-Year-Old Barstow Resident Height: 5’-8” Weight: 200 lbs. Marks: Tattoo of “STV” on his neck Joe Astorga 37- Year-Old Barstow Resident Height: 5’-5” Weight: 170 lbs. Marks:Tattoo of “Baby Cakes”on neck CASE AGENT: Detective Nathaniel Arias SUMMARY: On October 2, 2018, at approximately 9:11 P.M., Barstow Police officers responded to a mobile home park located on the 1500 block of West Main Street regarding a stabbing that had just occurred. Officers arrived at the location and found a male suffering from multiple stab wounds. Barstow Fire Protection District Paramedics responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the victim. Paramedics transported the victim via air ambulance to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries. Detectives responded to the scene and interviewed several witnesses. During the investigation, they learned that the victim was involved in a physical altercation with two Hispanic male adults. During the altercation, the male suspects stabbed the victim multiple times and then fled from the scene in a tan SUV type vehicle. Detective Nathaniel Arias was able to identify Jessie Quezada and Joe Astorga as the two males who had assaulted and stabbed the victim. Officers and detectives have searched all known locations for Quezada and Astorga but have not been able to locate them or the vehicle in which they fled. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Jessie Quezada for the charge of PC 664/187 - Attempted Murder. Detectives are still completing the warrant request for Astorga. If anyone should locate Quezada or Astorga, do not approach them as they are considered Armed and Dangerous. As a result, TYLER STRASSER (20) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license. 0336 - Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Armory Rd. regarding a non-injury traffic accident. As a result, VANESSA SISNEROS (30) was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. 0840 - Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of S. Seventh Ave. regarding a male trespassing on the property of a vacant business. BRANDON SHAW (33) was arrested for outstanding warrants for unlawful removal from trash containers and possession of methamphetamine. DIONDRE WASHINGTON (24) was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and outstanding warrants for resisting, delaying, or obstructing a police officer and shopping cart theft. MELODY MCCLAIN (48) was arrested for outstanding warrants for shoplifting. KIMBERLY CREMEANS (57) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for having an open alcohol container. ***BARSTOW POLICE DEPARTMENT ARREST LOG*** OCTOBER 03, 2018 TIME DETAILS OF EVENT 1031 - Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of E. Main St. regarding a male brandishing a knife at the reporting party. As a result, three subjects were arrested. DAVON BENJAMIN (35) was arrested for threats and assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. KEONI ROJAS (27) was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. DEVIN HUGIE (21) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. 1119 - Officers conducted a pedestrian check in the 1100 block of E. Main St. As a result, SAMUEL ZAMORA (48) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for transporting and/or selling methamphetamine. 1317 - Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Yellowstone regarding a disturbance where subjects were trespassing inside of a vacant residence and breaking windows. As a result, MANUEL RIOS (28) was arrested for trespassing and an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. 1424 - Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Buena Vista St. regarding a non-injury traffic accident. As a result, INOR ROBINSON (24) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for domestic battery. 1451 - Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Santa Fe Dr. regarding a disturbance where a male was inside of a home breaking windows. As a result, DANIEL VALENZUELA (31) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. 2029 - Officers conducted a pedestrian check in the 1100 block of E. Main St. As a result, MICHAEL HOWARD (42) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for spousal abuse. 2215 - Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of E. Main St. regarding a battery that had just occurred. As a result, DAMARIEA JOHNSON (18) was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon other that a firearm. 2257 - Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Nancy St. regarding a domestic disturbance between a male and a female. As a result, RAUL RUBIO (32) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license.

As a result, DARYL OLIVER (58) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for public intoxication. 0900 - Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Navajo St. regarding a domestic disturbance between a male and a female. As a result, SONIA STEVENS (32) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for possession of methamphetamine and JASON AROLA (38) was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license. 1455 - Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Montara Rd. regarding a male who had been detained for shoplifting at a business. As a result, BRYANT MARKSON (52) was arrested for shoplifting. 1604 - Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of E. Main St. regarding an area check for a suspicious vehicle in the area. As a result, ROSE PUENTES (36) was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. 2341 - Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Lenwood Rd. regarding a panhandler harassing customers for money at a business. As a result, GEROME SCOTT (51) was arrested for public intoxication and CRYSTAL FURROW (33) was arrested for outstanding warrants for petty theft and attempted petty theft. 2347 - Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Pueblo Dr. regarding a family disturbance. As a result, JOSE RENTERIA (25) was arrested for public intoxication.

***SUSPECT ARRESTED*** On September 27, 2018, Barstow Police Detectives received several tips from citizens in the community that the robbery suspect, Nathaniel Mansfield, Jr., was in an apartment complex located in the 750 block of East Virginia Way. Detectives went to the location and confirmed that Mansfield was inside the apartment. Officers surrounded the apartment and while trying to contact the occupants, Mansfield came out with his hand up. Officers placed him under arrest without incident and booked him at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for PC 211-Robbery. Barstow Police Department would like to thank the community for all of their help in the successful apprehension of this suspect.

****PRESS RELEASE**** DATE: September 25, 2018 OFFENSE: PC 211 – Armed Robbery CR NUMBER: 18-3667 DATE OF INCIDENT: September 19, 2018 SUSPECTS: Nathaniel Lee Mansfield Jr. 33-Year-Old, Apple Valley Resident Chris Harris Jr. 24-Year-Old, Barstow Resident CASE AGENT: Detective Thomas Lewis SUMMARY: On September 19, 2018, at approximately 2:14 P.M., Barstow Police Officers responded to a shopping center located on the 1200 block of East Main Street regarding a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they talked with the victim who reported that while she was sitting in the back seat of a vehicle, a male subject opened her door, produced a handgun, and demanded her wallet. The male took her wallet and fled on foot from the area. Officers and detectives responded to the scene to search for the suspect. Detectives were able to obtain video surveillance of the robbery from a nearby business. Detectives positively identified Nathaniel Mansfield Jr. and Chris Harris Jr. as the suspects through video surveillance footage and prior police contacts During the investigation, Detectives learned that Mansfield Jr. and Harris Jr. observed the victim at Walmart as she cashed a check and placed the money in her wallet. Mansfield Jr. and Harris Jr. then followed the victim to the shopping center in the 1200 block of East Main Street. Mansfield Jr. approached the victim produced a handgun and robbed her at gunpoint. Mansfield Jr. fled the shopping center west on the 1200 block of East Main Street, where Harris Jr. waited a short distance away in a vehicle. Officers searching the surrounding area located the getaway vehicle, which belonged to Harris Jr., unoccupied on the 700 block of Dolph Court. Barstow Police Detectives seized the vehicle, obtained a search warrant and with the assistance of a Barstow Police Evidence Technician, processed the vehicle for evidence. The vehicle was later stored at a local tow yard. On September 24, 2018, at approximately 1:46 P.M., Detective Lewis received a tip that Harris Jr. was at the tow yard attempting to retrieve property from his vehicle. Officers and Detectives arrived at the tow yard and arrested Harris Jr. without incident. Officers booked Harris Jr. at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for PC 211 – Robbery and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for VC 14601 –Drive with a Suspended License. Mansfield Jr. and the firearm used in the robbery have not been located. Anyone who might locate Mansfield Jr. should contact police immediately.
