Officers Courduff and Flores located a stolen vehicle in the area of Campus Ave and 13th St. The driver, a documented gang member from Los Angeles, was also in possession of over 13 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. While you were sleeping.....Ofc. Kunkel conducted a traffic stop on a truck for vehicle code violations. After a subsequent search of the vehicle, Ofc Kunkel located over one ounce of methamphetamine inside of the truck! Needless to say, the driver was arrested for transportation for sales of a controlled substance!! Great job Ofc. The weekend patrol officers were extra busy this week helping keeping the city safe!! In addition to handling calls for service, officers were able to seize over two ounces of illegal drugs and recover several stolen vehicles! Two of the recovered vehicles, one of which was occupied, were involved in separate carjackings in the city of Pomona!! Upland Pd will be participating in the Pink Patch Project again this year. During the month of October, Officers will be wearing pink patches on their uniforms to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease. While you were sleeping... Officer Flores conducted a vehicle stop in the north alley of Orchid Ct. During which, the passenger ran from the vehicle and a foot pursuit ensued. Additional UPD Officers arrived and detained the suspect. During a protective sweep of the area a backpack was recovered (Seen carried by the suspect). Inside the backpack was a loaded firearm. On September 13, 2018 Upland Police Officers and Support Personnel conducted a “Quality of Life Improvement Operation”. The operation focused on deterring criminal vagrancy, and resulted in the removing several truck loads of trash and abandoned property. The property will be temporarily held for safekeeping. Seventeen people were arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center. Numerous homeless persons were offered shelter alternatives and assistance services to help them.

While you were sleeping....around 10:45 PM last night, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1700 Block of W. Arrow Hwy. for a call of shots fired. During their investigation, officers were able to identify the apartment the shots were heard coming from. When they went to check on the safety of the residents inside, they found a male resident passed out drunk with a rifle and ammunition next to him. The male was subsequently arrested for several felonies including felon in possession of a firearm and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. #uplandpd #uplandpolice #keepingUplandsafe

Last night, the detective bureau was able to recover two stolen vehicles taken from a local car dealership and take one suspect into custody. Later on in the evening, a swing shift officer on his way to a call in the Colonies stopped a Hispanic male seen getting out of a white Ford Fusion with no plates. The Fusion also ended up being a reported stolen vehicle, and the suspect was arrested for several charges including possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of narcotics! #uplandpd #uplandpolice #recoveredGTA #keepingUplandsafe

Last Thursday night on 8/23/18, Ofc. Hanley responded to a call of an intoxicated male in the 2400 Block of W. Arrow Hwy. When he arrived, Ofc. Hanley located the male who was later identified as Ivan Galiano (20) from Rancho Cucamonga. During his investigation, Ofc. Hanley found multiple bullets in one of Galiano’s pockets. Ofc. Hanley learned Galiano was a convicted felon making it illegal for him to possess the ammunition, and Galiano was subsequently arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center. It was later learned Galiano was suspected of shooting a woman on the Santa Monica pier earlier the same day!! Outstanding work by Ofc. Hanley getting this violent criminal off the streets and being able to help Santa Monica detectives locate their suspect and take him into custody!!! #uplandpd #uplandpolice #oneincustody #keepingUplandsafe #notonourwatch
