On Thursday, October 4, 2018 at approximately 4:58 p.m., the T-Mobile store on Gellert Boulevard was the victim of a commercial burglary and grand theft by three subjects who entered the store and stole two iPhones valued at over $2,000. With Halloween only two days away, we want to make sure you have a safe holiday. This past weekend we conducted a sex registrant check just in time for Halloween. The purpose of this detail was to ensure individuals who are required by law to register as sex offenders are in compliance of their registration requirements. During the detail, one subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant. We run these details periodically. If you are interested in knowing if there are any registered sex offenders in your neighborhood, you can easily access the "Megan's Law" website, type in an address and find who lives in your area. https://www.meganslaw.ca.gov

Package Thefts The holidays are coming, and so are the package thieves. We have been receiving an increase in reports of people having their packages taken from their porches. In some cases, residents have reported being home when the delivery was supposedly made. This leads us to believe that the thieves may even be following the delivery truck drivers while they are on their route. In order to prevent this from happening to you, we would like to suggest that you have your packages delivered to your workplace or at a "locker" that many stores now have for your security.

This Saturday, (10/27) we will be at the Westlake Walgreens store from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for "National Prescription Drug Take Back Day". As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, Walgreens has worked over the past year to become the leading retailer in combating prescription drug abuse through its Safe Medication Disposal and Naloxone programs. If you have any expired or unused medications, you may bring them in to dispose. If you can not make it on that day, please know we also have a disposal kiosk in the lobby at our police department. To learn more about safe medication disposal, visit Walgreens.com/CombatDrugAbuse

Hit and Run Driver arrested! On Wednesday, 10-10-18 at 10:01 p.m., a 40-year old Daly City resident was crossing the street in the crosswalk at John Daly Boulevard and Sheffield Drive when she was hit by a driver. A witness also crossing the street saw the victim roll off the hood of the vehicle after she was hit. The witness said the driver of vehicle then sped away from the scene. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where she was treated for injuries to her face and body, including bleeding, swelling, bruising, lacerations and road rash. Another witness was able to take a photo and captured the license plate of the suspect vehicle. Investigators were able to identify the vehicle and the owner, and a week later, they arrested the suspect, a 53-year old Daly City resident, for hit and run and for a suspended driver's license. We give a big thanks to a witness who chose to get involved and gave us the photo of the suspect vehicle to be able to catch this suspect.
