Today, the Rifle Police Department responded to a domestic related call off campus initially thought to have a connection to Rifle High School. As a precaution, Rifle High School was placed on lockout status at approximately 1:04 p.m. today. Lockout means that no one is allowed in or out of the building, but school continues inside the building as usual with no disruptions. As the investigation progressed, it was determined that there was not a threat to the school, students or employees of Rifle High School. At approximately 3:15 p.m., the Rifle Police Department advised school administrators to lift the lockout. Students were released as usual with additional law enforcement presence, and out of an abundance of caution, Rifle police will have officers on campus until after-school activities cease. The Rifle Police Department will continue their investigation into the domestic related incident and as a matter of policy will not comment on the ongoing investigation. The Garfield Re-2 School District is grateful for the support and presence of the Rifle Police Department in keeping our students and staff safe. Garfield Re-2 School District and Rifle Police Department would like to thank the parents and Rifle High School community for their cooperation and patience during this event.

CBI Notification: CBI has implemented the Colorado Applicant Background Services (CABS) program in response to Senate Bill 17-189. CBI has awarded contracts to third party vendors to print and submit non-criminal fingerprints for the State. These vendors will be located throughout the State of Colorado. This means that all employment related fingerprinting will have to be provided by a State Contractor. Law Enforcement Agencies will no longer be allowed to provide finger printing services for non-criminal requests. We know and understand this may be an inconvenience to many. Attached is a list of Vendors that provide finger printing services. • Contact IdentoGO to make an appointment to be fingerprinted. o IdentoGO: www.identogo.com o Appointment Scheduling Website: uenroll.identogo.com o Phone: (844) 539-5539 (toll-free)

The "warrant for your arrest" scam is happening in our area today. In a call that a citizen received today, the number 978-293-5517 was used. A search of this number indicates that it has been used in the "IRS" scam in the past. (A big thank you to the citizen that sent us a message about the call!) The warrant for your arrest scam normally involves the caller identifying themselves as an officer that claims to have a warrant for your arrest or for a loved one. The caller will tell you that you can avoid arrest by wiring money or by purchasing cash cards, usually Green Dot cards, and providing the account numbers. In either scenario, you will not be able to recover your money. Police agencies will never ask you to wire money or purchase cash cards from a department store and provide the account numbers. If you have any doubt about the validity of a phone call from someone identifying themselves as a police officer, hang up and call us at 970-665-6500. If it is after hours, call dispatch at 970-625-8095 and ask to speak to an on duty officer. As a reminder, the IRS will NEVER call you to collect money. NEVER Scammers may know information about your life! They may know your wife's name, your dog's name or even your address. Do not be fooled. It is very easy to obtain information about anyone on the Internet. You can help minimize your chances of being scammed by being careful not to "friend" people you do not know on Facebook or other social media platforms. If you do not know the person asking to become your "friend", we suggest you ignore the request. Adjust your settings on social media accounts to allow only confirmed friends to see your information.
