We are seeing scams like this again in Logan County, this time near Fleming. If the deal seems to good to be true, it probably is. Don’t get bullied into having work done, or paying someone to do work for you, especially if they demand money immediately. These scam artists are taking large units of money from citizens, and only doing a small amount of work.

Shout out to the farmer's who helped put out the fire northwest of Sterling today. Thank you! Also thank you to Aero Applicators for sending a plane.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is using the social networking service “Nextdoor.” Nextdoor's distinguishing feature is that users are supposed to use their real names and physical addresses, and Nextdoor goes to greater lengths than typical social media sites to ensure user names and locations are true. The visibility of posts is not public, nor is their visibility defined by 'friends' or 'groups', as with other social media platforms, but instead by the geographical neighborhood users actually reside in. If you are already a member of Nextdoor we ask that you please join our page. For those that are not members of Nextdoor, we encourage you to go to the website www.nextdoor.com, or download the mobile app on your phone, and look us up! The Logan County Sheriff’s Office has had Nextdoor for a few months, trying it out to see the benefits. Through this time frame, we have discovered there are great benefits to this, and we use Nextdoor to inform the public of safety tips, we can receive information from the public, we share our press releases, post upcoming events, post lost and found items and also severe weather related information (tornadoes/blizzard), etc. Our goal is to partner with you and your neighbors to build a community, improve quality of life, and work together to make your neighborhood safer and stronger. We have found this networking site to be very beneficial in the community, and a large amount of the citizens in Logan County are already using it. Please keep in mind that your Nextdoor neighborhood network remains private to only those of you who are verified residents of your Nextdoor neighborhood network. We are NOT able to see what you and your neighbors are discussing. We will see your thanks and replies to our posts, along with messages sent to us. We will not be monitoring Nextdoor 24/7, and will respond to replies or questions as quickly as we can. Please do NOT use Nextdoor to request emergency services. If you need assistance, please contact the Sterling Emergency Communications Center at 970 522-3512.
