Scam Alert: The Wray Police Department has had several reports from members of the community in the last two days regarding a scam. All of the individuals stated the calls came from someone claiming they are with MediCare and were calling about replacing their MediCare cards with new ones. They then get the persons name, address, Social Security number and bank information. As always if someone calls wanting personal information about you please do not give it to them. Chances are it is a scam.

Attention: Effective September 24, 2018, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) implemented the Colorado Applicant Background Services (CABS) program in response to Senate Bill 17-189. This means the Wray Police Department will no longer be able to provide fingerprint card services for civilians needing them for employment and/or background checks. CBI will no longer accept physical/paper fingerprint card submissions as provided by the Wray Police Department. CBI has awarded two contracts allowing third party vendors to electronically print and submit non-criminal applicant fingerprints for the State of Colorado. Currently, Identogo is the only vendor in Yuma County. Identogo will be in Wray at 32415 Us Highway 34, Morgan Community College building, on Wednesdays 9 am – 12pm and 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. This is by appointment only, no walk-ins accepted. Go to https://www.identogo.com and select Colorado for information regarding their services, and to make an appointment. Please visit https://www.colorado.gov/pac…/…/employment-background-checks to read more about the CABS program.

SCAM ALERT: The following scam is going around the Wray area. Black Hills Corporation (Productions) is wanting people to get paid to have their vehicle wrapped. They say they will send you a check and if you deposit it right away you can keep $400.00 of it, but the rest is sent to someone else VIA Walmart. This is a scam, the checks are no good. Most legit businesses do not conduct business by text messages and will understand if you take some time to do research on the business before doing business with them. Research the company and see if the company does what they told you they will do. Look the business name up on the internet and contact the main office to see if they have any promotional activities like vehicle wraps. Don't trust the phone number provided to you by the Facebook post or email you received. If you have received anything from this company or one like it please feel free to contact any local law enforcement agency before you act.

What a great time!

The Wray Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to Colorado Revised Statutes 16-13-901 through 16-13-905, which authorizes Law Enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when the offender has been determined to be a sexually violent predator and is subject to community notification. The purpose of this notification is to enhance public safety and protection. Vigilantism or use of this information to harass, threaten, or intimidate the following person is criminal behavior and will not be tolerated. This law enforcement agency has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may live, unless court restrictions exist. He is constitutionally free to live wherever he chooses. Sex offenders have always lived in our communities, but they were not required to notify law enforcement of their residence until registration laws were implement pursuant to the Jacob Wetterling Act in 1994. Attention Wray area business owners and residents: The Wray Police Department has received a counterfeit $100.00 bill. It looks pretty good but if you feel the blue stripe, it feels rough like it is glued onto the bill. Also the gold color 100 doesn't change colors when moved in the light. On the back of the bill the picture of Independence hall is blurry. If you receive any of these please call 332-4802
