Press release, follow-up to fatal motor vehicle accident 11/02/2018 In regard to our previous report related to the fatal motor vehicle accident from 11/01/2018, the deceased female has been identified. Family members came forward yesterday and identified her as Clemencia Guallpa, d.o.b. 07/09/1949. Press Release 11/01/2018 The Danbury Police Department is sorry to report the fatal motor vehicle accident, which took the life of a middle age female, who has yet to be identified. This morning, 11/01/2018, at approximately 6:30 am, the Danbury Police Department received a call for a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of 48 Franklin St, which involved a car and a pedestrian. A preliminary investigation indicates that 38-year-old Angel Cambizaca of Danbury, CT was traveling westbound on Franklin St. when his 2006 Honda Civic collided with an unidentified female who was in the roadway. The female was transported to Danbury Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The identity of the female is unknown at this time and we are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying her. The female is described as being white, possibly Hispanic, in her 50’s, approximately 5 feet tall with short black hair. At the time of the incident, the female was wearing a black knit hat, blue slip on sneakers, blue fleece lined leggings with patterns on the pockets, DKNY gray hooded fleece lined coat, and a white t-shirt. She was also wearing gold and silver colored dangling-type rope earrings, a gold colored ring with clear baguette cornerstones and purple center stone and a gold colored Timex watch with a white face. This collision is under investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Traffic Division. Press Release Release Date: 10/31/2018 On 10/30/18 at approximately 12:35 pm Gabriel Silba was arrested in the area of 345 Main St. by the Danbury Police Department for charges stemming from a violent crime, which was witnessed by a plain clothes detective. At approximately 12:35 pm, Detective Len LaBonia was operating an unmarked police car on Main St. when he saw Garbiel Silba and another man engaged in a heated argument. As Detective LeBonia exited his car to intervene, he witnessed Silba stab the other man in his stomach. After doing so, Silba attempted to flee the area but was quickly apprehended by the detective. It was later determined that the stabbing was related to Silba robbing the other man of a pair of boots. The adult male victim was transported to Danbury Hospital via ambulance where he was treated for his injuries and Silba was placed into custody and transported to the Danbury Police Department where he was processed for the listed offenses and held for bond pending arraignment or release. **Press Release** Arrestee: Jose A. Ramos (DOB 08/27/1987) 446 Edgewood Street, Hartford, Connecticut On October 26, 2018 at about 7:10pm detectives with the Danbury Police General Investigations Division were conducting an investigation at 26 Spring Street for a violent crime that occurred earlier in the week in the City of Danbury. While detectives were attempting to speak with people in the residence, a male, later identified a Jose Ramos, jumped out a window in the front of the residence, causing it to break, and ran away from the detectives. During the foot pursuit, detectives saw Ramos discard a plastic bag in the Auto Zone parking lot, located at 336 Main Street; Ramos was arrested in the parking lot near Main Street. The plastic bag contained marijuana, cocaine, crack-cocaine, and heroin, and addition bags of cocaine were found in Ramos’ sweatshirt pocket. ***We need your help!*** The Danbury Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating a purse snatching that involved an elderly female victim. This robbery occurred on Monday, October 22, 2018 at around 7:00pm on Center Street, near St. Peter’s Church. Video surveillance shows that the suspect was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and light colored shoes. The video also shows that there were several people in the area around the time of this robbery. **Press Release** On Tuesday, 10/23/2018 Orlando Cruz A.K.A. "O," age 33 of Danbury, and Abdulwali Peterson, age 30, of Naugatuck, were arrested for a variety of drug related offenses incident to the execution of search and seizure warrants for Cruz’s residence, car and person. Cruz was the focus of a several week investigation related to drug sales from his residence of 1 Kennedy Ave, "Kennedy Flats". The investigation was initiated after receiving citizen complaints regarding Cruz’s illegal activity. Based on the investigation, which revealed activity consistent with drug trafficking, the Superior Court issued the above mentioned search warrants. At approximately 15:00 hours, Detectives of the Special Investigations Division, General Investigations Division assisted by officers from the Community Conditions Unit and Patrol Division set up surveillance of #1 Kennedy Ave., "Kennedy Flats," unit #2102. Detectives observed Peterson drive into the complex and meet with Cruz. Detectives observed a hand to hand drug transaction between the two at which point the surveillance team approached and identified themselves as police officers. Detectives seized three clear, knotted plastic bags from Cruz's left hand. This substance later field tested positive for the presence of cocaine and Cruz was placed under arrest. Peterson immediately ran through the complex onto Kennedy Ave. and was placed under arrest after a brief foot pursuit. During the foot pursuit, Detectives observed Peterson discard a digital scale. This scale was later seized and found to have a white powder residue on the surface. This substance later field tested positive for the presence of cocaine. Entry was then made into apartment #2102 in order to execute the search and seizure warrant. Among the cocaine, Detectives seized drug paraphernalia, cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash. "Start With Hello" is a program developed by the Sandy Hook Promise organization to create awareness about social isolation and connection for children in grades K-12.

Danbury Police Explorer Cadets Post #33 2018 ANNUAL CADET SWAT CHALLENGE RESULTS On Saturday, October 6th, 11 cadets of the Danbury Police Explorer program traveled to Fairfield Connecticut to compete in the annual Cadet SWAT Challenge. The Challenge consists of SWAT style tactical challenge stations and various configurations of the team competed in all of the stations. There are individual placement award medals for each event with Gold for 1st Place; Silver for 2nd Place and Bronze awarded for 3rd Place. The cadets were trained by their advisors, Sergeant John Krupinsky, (former SWAT member of the Danbury Police Emergency Services Unit), and Special Agent Brianna McNally of the US Diplomatic Security Services, New York Field Office (ATLAS graduate), and were assisted by Associate Civilian Advisor Henry Peralta and Post Advisor, Danbury Lieutenant Matt McNally. The Danbury contingent placed in all but two events and won many medals, with the team placing as the 2nd Place Cadet SWAT Challenge Team overall. The team is already looking forward to next year’s challenge and the coveted 1st Place overall trophy. The team is comprised of Edisson Yunga, Maribel Ramirez, Matthew Regalado, Juan Peralta, Fabricio Fernandes, McCarthy Oliveira, Omar Guachun, Nancy Aldana, Matthew Cisewski, Kiandry Marte, and Kimberly Macancela. Press Release Release Date: 10/11/2018 On October 11, 2018, Chevalier Terrell Purvis and Christopher Kevin Maloney were arrested for drug offenses, which stemmed from an investigation that began weeks earlier. The investigation was initiated after investigators received citizen complaints regarding frequent drug sales being conducted at 12C Bank St., Danbury, CT, the residence of Maloney. During a follow-up investigation, investigators witnessed activity consistent with drug trafficking. A combination of observations and other investigative techniques, provided investigators the probable required nec to obtain a Superior Court search and seizure warrant for Maloney’ residence. At approximately 7 p.m. on October 11, 2018, investigators executed the search warrant at 12C Bank St. Upon entering, Chevalier Terrell Purvis disobeyed orders not to move and immediately began to run to the rear of the apartment. Investigators chased Purvis into a bathroom where he became combative and actively resisted attempts to restrain him. During that time, Purvis attempted to swallow a substantial quantity of cocaine, which investigators were able retrieve from Purvis’ mouth and throughout the apartment. In addition to seizing the drugs, investigators seized a substantial quantity of U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia. Based on the above findings, Chevalier Terrell Purvis and Christopher Kevin Maloney were placed under arrest and transported to the police department were they were processed and held on bond. Press Release Release Date: 10/11/2018 On October 11, 2018, Ronald Kenneth Scott was arrested for drug offenses, which stemmed from an investigation that began weeks earlier. The investigation was initiated after investigators received citizen complaints regarding Scott’s illegal activity. Based on a further investigation, which revealed activity consistent with drug trafficking, the superior court issued a search warrant for Scott’ car, residence, phone and person. On October 11, 2018, in an attempt to execute the issued search warrants, investigators began a surveillance of Scott’ residence, 17A Irving place. During that time, investigators observed Scott engage in a suspected drug transaction with the operator of a car that entered his driveway, which met briefly with Scott before quickly exiting. Investigators were able to stop the operator of the car when it left the immediate area. Upon interviewing the operator, he was found to be in possession of less than .5 ounce of marijuana and issued an infraction. At approximately 1:17 p.m., while the operator of the stopped car was being issued the infraction, investigators executed the search warrant for the person of Scott, his residence and his car. During the course of searching the three areas, several ounces of cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and suspected drug proceed were seized. On May 2nd, 1964, Danbury Constable Frederick P. Ellis suffered a fatal heart attack while conducting traffic control at the scene of a major structure fire at the intersection of Pahquioque Ave. and E. Liberty St. In recognition of his sacrifice to the City of Danbury, Constable Frederick P. Ellis will be added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. on May 13, 2019. Press Release Release Date 09/27/2018 On 09/27/2018, at approximately 00:19 a.m. the Danbury Police Department received a call for a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Mill Plain Rd. and Aunt Hack Rd. A preliminary investigation indicates that Juan Antonio Pacheco, 26, of Pound Ridge, NY, was operating a Ford F250 when he struck a Mercedes-Benz C63 sedan operated by Catriona, O’Hagan, 29, of Derry Northern Ireland. O’Hagen and her passenger were traveling west in the westbound lane when Pacheco, who was traveling eastbound, crossed over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane when the cars collided. Pacheco, O’Hagan and O’Hagan’s passenger were all transported to Danbury Hospital for injuries sustained in this collision. The collision is being investigated by the Danbury Police Department’s Traffic Division, which is requesting anyone who witnessed or has information regarding the collision to please contact Sgt.
