Recently SCPD hosted its annual awards ceremony. Members received acknowledgment and awards for several incidents and achievements made over the past year. This year SCPD recognized Lt. Keith Zengel, Sgt. Jeffrey Barter, Sgt, Timothy Boyle, Sgt. Timothy Murphy, Corporal Erica O’Connor, Officer First Class Anthony Lombardi, Officer First Class Reymundo Diaz, Officer First Class Jeffrey Vaccaro, Officer Drew O’Connor, Officer Gregory Wimble and Security Technician Tony Martinez. Congratulations to all those recognized for their continued service.

The Connecticut State Capitol Police Department would like to express their condolences and great sorrow to the South Windsor Police Department on the loss of Sgt. Matthew Mainieri. Our thoughts are with the men and women of SWPD, along with Sgt. Mainieri's family. Members of the State Capitol Police secured the American flag that was flying above the Capitol building on September 2, 2018 and it will be presented to the South Windsor Police Department. Sgt. Matthew Mainieri #155, we will never forget you, Rest in Peace Brother.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Trooper First Class Kevin Miller and the Connecticut State Police. Rest In Peace.

The members of the Connecticut State Capitol Police Department send our sincerest condolences to the Connecticut State Police and the family and friends of Tpr. Danielle Miller #1221. Trooper Danielle Miller died as a result of injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with the CSP along with her family and friends during this difficult time.

Members of the SCPD Honor Guard attended the recent NFL AFC Championship Game in Massachusetts. All New England States had honor guard units participate in the National Anthem ceremony. It was an honor for SCPD to represent Connecticut.

The Capitol grounds are full and there is no more available parking. If you are planning on attending today’s rally please find other locations to park.

The Connecticut State Capitol Police came together as a department to collect toys to donate to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Oncology Unit. Sgt Boyle and Corporal O’Connor delivered all the packages. SCPD wishes everyone a safe and joyous holiday season.

A parking ban on the Capitol Campus will go into effect beginning at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 9. The parking ban will remain in effect until 10:00 am on Sunday, December 10. Please do not leave any vehicles parked in any parking areas (Capitol Grounds, Armory Road, Chief Michael J. Fallon Way, or the roof of the Legislative Office Garage). In addition, a City of Hartford Snow Emergency parking ban will be implemented Saturday, December, 9 beginning at 10:00 am through Sunday,December 10, 10:00 am. Please do not park on any city streets during this time.

SCPD raised over $700.00 for No Shave November. Raising money and awareness for a great cause!

SCPD wants to remind everyone to protect their vehicles and homes by making sure you "lock it". This time of year there is an increase in thefts from vehicles so protect yourself and your belongings by locking your vehicles and keeping your belongings out of sight.
