Congratulations to Officer T (and family) for coming in 3rd in the 2018 Trick or Trunk event!

Officer Sarah Alicea graduated from the 47th D.A.R.E. Instructor training class! Officer A (as she is known in the schools) was one of 37 officers to attend the two week training She will help make a difference in the lives of the children she instructs. Congratulations!

Update: The problem has been resolved and isolated to the construction site (old Kmart building). Everybody should have water restored within the hour. If the water is discolored, let it run for a little while.

Construction workers broke a water main while working at Cromwell Square affecting numerous residents and businesses in the town. They are currently attempting to isolate the issue to the Cromwell Square. We will advise as we are provided more information.

Drug Take Back Day - April 28th!

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Officer Mark Gery passed away on February 18, 2018. Mark joined the Cromwell Police Department in March 2017 after 20 years in law enforcement. Although Mark was only with us for a short time he exemplified our motto of courage, pride and dedication. Rest in Peace.

Cromwell Police Department’s K9 Bane to get body armor Cromwell Police Department’s K9 Bane will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Bane’s vest is sponsored by an Anonymous Sponsor and will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Jan Duna”. Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The non-profit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over 2,800 protective vests, in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a cost of over 2.4 million dollars. The program is open to dogs actively employed in the U.S. with law enforcement or related agencies who are certified and at least 20 months of age. New K9 graduates, as well as K9s with expired vests, are eligible to participate. The donation to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K9 is $950.00. Each vest has a value between $1,744 – $2,283 and a five-year warranty, and an average weight of 4-5 lbs. There is an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States. December 7th, Sergeant Bill Kogut, Detective Pete Pietraroia, Officer John Carlson with K-9 Bane, Officer Kyle Perricone and Officer Zac Augenstein joined the Reach Foundation in making a difference in some children's lives during Shop with a Cop. The event is a fun filled day of shopping for underserved children.

Come visit us at our 14th Annual Fill-A-Cruiser Food Drive this Saturday, December 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Stop & Shop in Cromwell. All proceeds to benefit Cromwell families.

Be cautious when defrosting your car on these cold mornings or anytime you leave your car running. Over the weekend at approx. 5:45 am, a resident started their car and went back into their house while the car got warm. The keys were in it, the doors were unlocked and it was stolen.

Due to an overturned tractor trailer, Route 3 and 372 is closed both ways at this time.

It's a beautiful time of year with the leaves changing colors, but they are also falling off the trees. Please remember not to rake or blow the leaves into the streets as it narrows the roads and clogs the drains during rain storms.

K9 Officer Carlson and his partner Bane competed for their first time in the K9 Olympics on Saturday, July 22nd and finished 11th overall. The competition brought 39 teams from MA and CT through an obstacle course, criminal apprehension and obedience areas. Congratulations on a job well done Officer Carlson and Bane!

We celebrated Flag Day with the students and families at Edna C. Stevens school today. The students did such an amazing job!

The Mahoney Sabol 5K Road Race is going to affect traffic in the Main Street, Golf Club Road, and Field Road area on Saturday morning. Please see Press Release below

The Cromwell Police Department would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the Cromwell Fire Department. Today, the Cromwell Fire Department held an Appreciation Ceremony, in honor of the Cromwell Police Department, at which they had a small presentation and raised flags stating "We support our Police". It is our pleasure working side by side with you in this great community of ours.

The Cromwell Police Department is participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back initiative. We recognize the need for residents to have the opportunity to discard unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs. This is a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. If you are seeking to dispose of your prescription drugs come by the Cromwell Police Department on April 29th between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Please be advised that the Cromwell Police Department is currently investigating a Motor Vehicle Accident at the intersection of Route 372 and County Squire Dr. There are partial lane closures and detours in place at this time. We are asking you to seek alternate routes as these conditions will continue for the next few hours.
