Just a heads up regarding a larceny of a bike from the Southern Campus. The bike was a black Giant Yukon, with blue bar ends. It was locked to the bike rack at Schwartz Hall. The suspect is described as a young male black. He is wearing a black flat brimmed baseball cap with a gold sticker on the red brim. There is a small red symbol on the front of the cap. He is wearing Beats style headphones. He is wearing a black tee-shirt with a red design on the front. He wore a small black or brown back pack. He was wearing bleached out camo pants and light colored vans style shoes. If you see someone matching this description on or near campus, contact Southern Police!

Take Back the night SCSU 2018
Take Back the Night, join the campus community in the Residential Quad!
Today, Citizen’s Academy was lucky to have two different guest speakers come in and talk about their jobs. First we had Officers Jason Salgado and Joe Tempesta from the New Haven Regional Bomb Squad discuss their training, job and mission on the bomb squad as well as display some videos and equipment they use. They also had Detective Torres suit up in the bomb suit for a demonstration. The second speaker was Connecticut State’s Attorney Devant Joiner who spoke about his job and his work at the New Haven Courthouse.
This is Dispatcher Sean Alexis hard at work behind the desk at Southern’s police station. The great work our dispatchers put in is an integral part of how we are able to take in calls and respond to any problem that arises. Dispatch deserves plenty of recognition and we’re very thankful to have them.
Here are some photos from the events yesterday where we had students and faculty sign pledges not to drink and drive. We had a great turn out and we would like to thank Lt Christopher Bartolotta, Commander of the Connecticut State Police Traffic Division for giving an excellent presentation.
1-3pm Come join Beta Mu Sigma and the University Police in the academic quad by taking the pledge to never Drink and Drive. By signing the pledge you will be automatically entered into a free drawing for Uber gift cards. Drawing will be held at the Farnham programming Space at 7pm tonight. Must be present to win. Also, LT Christopher Bartollota Commander of the CT State Police Traffic Division will be presenting on the dangers of drunk driving. Hope to see you there. Fee pizza will be provided!
Here are some photos of our Southern officers from the funeral for Connecticut State Trooper First Class Kevin Miller. We were deeply saddened to hear of his passing and the community came together to honor him. His selfless service to his country and community will never be forgotten and he will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace, Trooper First Class Miller. You will always be in our hearts and minds.
