Further investigation by the officer disclosed that one of the males had pulled a knife on the other and robbed him of money. The involved knife described by the Victim was subsequently recovered by the officer on scene. No one involved was injured. Both involved males knew each other. On 11/08/18, New London Police detectives arrested a 17 year old JV male in association with both robberies. Winthrop Blvd., New London, CT. Contact with the victims and an area perimeter was immediately established. Additional information received disclosed that the suspect displayed a gun and threatened the victims. A detailed description of the suspect was also obtained. The suspect was quickly located and identified (a 15 year old juvenile male) by police. A police K9 was used to locate the gun used (later identified as a B.B. gun). (Incident time) INVESTIGATION STATUS: ACTIVE / ONGOING SUMMARY: On 11/01/2018 @ approx. 6:53pm, a walk-in complainant at the New London Police Department reported that he had drove to the area of Boulder Dr. and Jefferson Ave., New London, CT to meet with an unknown female to sell a cell phone he had posted on an internet service. That while waiting in the area to sell the phone, the complainant reported that he was approached by two young males (one possible black male and one possible Hispanic male) who he didn’t know that robbed him at gun point of the cell phone he was attempting to sell. The complainant stated that during the armed robbery, he drew his firearm and discharged (2) rounds at the two suspects who ran off. No one was reported being shot. No person(s) being shot were located as well. The complainant responded to the PD after the fact to report the incident. No calls regarding the incident were received by Dispatch. The area of the incident was secured and canvassed. Members of the Investigative Services Division responded to collect/process evidence. PRELIMINARY RELEASE INCIDENT TYPE: Dog Bite INCIDENT LOCATION: area of Cape Ann St. and Ashcraft Rd., New London, CT DATE / TIME: 10/30/2018 @ approx. 7:24 am INVESTIGATION STATUS: ACTIVE / ONGOING SUMMARY: On Tuesday, 10/30/2018, at approximately 7:24 am, the New London Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a male being attacked by two dogs. Both police and fire department personnel were immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, police located a male attempting to separate two dogs actively fighting. An NLPD K9 officer who responded to the call initially attempted to utilized a “bite sleeve” to distract and separate the dogs from fighting. After an unsuccessful attempt with the “bite sleeve,” a Taser was depoyed. The depoloyment of the Taser resulted in the two dogs separating and one of the dogs fleeing the location. Preliminary information disclosed that the victim and his dog were attacked by a dog (possible 2 year old Pit Bull) after it escaped from its yard at 18 Cape Ann Street. The offending dog (“Menace”) immediately attacked the victim’s dog (possible 11 month old Mastiff mixed breed) and the victim tried to intervene. During the victim’s attempt to separate the dogs, the victim sustained a dog bite from the offending dog. The offending dog sustained what appeared to be fatal injuries from the victim’s dog during the attack. The victim’s dog was on leash during the time of the attack. Police and ACO remain actively searching for the victim’s dog. The investigation remains ative. FDNL and medics were immediately dispatched to the scene for medical care. The victim was subsequently transported to L+M Hospital for further medical attention.
