Blue Line Strength: For the past 3 weeks, our deputies who have been deployed to the Panhandle to help with #HurricaneMichael recovery have made lifelong friends with deputies from the Bay County Sheriff's Office. Each and every day, they've patrolled the streets making sure residents are safe and try to bring a bit of normalcy to the communities within Bay County hit so hard by Hurricane Michael back in early October. They met deputies whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged, but who continued to work to ensure the safety of their own communities. Our team wanted to bring a little bit of Citrus County to these deputies and their families. With the help of several local Citrus County businesses, CCSO employees, and dozens of local citizens who donated - we were able to give several Bay County sergeants & deputies buckets full of free goodies which included free resort stays, fishing charters, manatee tours, restaurant gift certificates, shirts, hats, and Visa gift cards. We want to say a tremendous thank you to everyone who donated including: Homosassa Riverside Resort - free lodging for deputies and their families Captain Tony Matthews of Old Homosassa Guide Service - free tours (http://oldhomosassaguideservice.com/) Captain Gary Bartell Jr. of River Adventure Tours - free tours (https://www.riveradventuretours.com/) Sodium Fishing Gear for the buckets, shirts, hats, cups and all the swag! Seafood Seller and Cafe - gift certificates Crumps Landing - gift certificates We are so proud of Citrus County for showing our brothers and sisters to the north so much love and support! WE THANK YOU! We have been so proud to serve each and every night with these fine men and women of the Bay County Sheriff's Office! #FloridaStrong #CCSO #ProudToServe

In the wake of the horrific attack, which took place at a religious institution in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this past week, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is making sure local churches and religious organizations are taking proper security measures at their own institutions. This attack ultimately took the lives of 11 people and causes concern for the safety and security at religious institutions throughout the country, state and right here in Citrus County. “We have always had great partnerships with our churches and religious organizations in our community,” says Sheriff Mike Prendergast. “We want religious leaders and church members to know that there is no place for this kind of violence in our community and we will continue to provide any preventative security measure information they may need to protect them.” The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office has trained personnel that can come to any local place of worship and perform safety and security assessments. We can also train church leaders and their members on tactics to decrease the chances of a violent act occurring in our community. “It is my hope, that Citrus County will never experience such a horrific event and with your support and assistance we will take the necessary steps in prevention and education to accomplish this goal.” Currently, we have not identified any threat against any places of worship in Citrus County. For more information, please refer to Governor Scott’s letter below and Sheriff Prendergast response. For more information on what our agency provides, please contact Chris Evan with the Citrus County Sheriff Office at 352-249-2703, during regular business hours Monday through Friday.

Congratulations to our SEI Class #36 who graduated today! We are so excited to have you start your careers here at our amazing agency. Good luck and we wish you the best! #CCSOFamily #CCSOSEI (1391)
