Hurricane Michael - Columbia County: Wednesday Mid-day Update
(Columbia County, FL) The following government offices are closed Thursday, October 11 due to Hurricane Michael.
Columbia County Board of County Commission Offices and Non-essential Agencies
Columbia County Schools
Columbia County Court System
City of Lake City
Forecasted weather conditions remain consistent and details are outlined below.
Columbia County is forecasted to experience wind speeds between 30 MPH and 50 MPH with gusts up to 60 MPH. Hurricane Michael is expected to arrive in Columbia County between 3:00 and 6:00 PM; however, storm conditions may begin earlier. The tornado threat is significant for Columbia County. Rainfall projections for the area are estimated at 2½ inches with some local areas seeing slightly more. Hurricane Michael weather conditions are anticipated to subside between 3:00 and 6:00 AM Thursday morning.
Sandbags are being distributed at Columbia County Public Works (607 NW Quinten Street, Lake City, FL 32055) Limit of 15 bags per vehicle.

Please note shelters provide shelter only. Evacuees are urged to bring their hurricane supply kit, as food and beverages will not be available.
