Havana Police Department News

Salvation Army is out and about roaming in the Havana Area today ( October 19th), please let us know if you need anything. We are also receiving lunches from a local church. Please share and let people know!

We have been approached by several citizens in this area of the county that still do not have power, cell phone service nor have any means to access social media to know when supplies will be available to them. We have passed this information on to the Salvation Army and are coordinating with them to deliver food directly to neighborhoods for those citizens who can not get to a distribution site.

We just called GCSO Emergency operations to enquire about supplies. They stated that the National Guard has decided to move the supplies more towards the western side of the county because the stores have power here in the city limits of Havana. They said the closest supply pick up to us is located at the New Bethel AME Church across from the Hospital in Quincy. If you or anyone you know that can not access food or water please let us know and we will do our very best to help you.

The National Guard will be at the Senior Citizen building with Supplies. They will be located on 4th St (between the old Elementary School and the Cemetery across from Stones.

Good morning, cell phone hotspots are kind of limited this morning. I talked to the Emergency operation Center in Tallahassee this morning and they have set up "comfort sites" for water, food etc.. go to LeonCountyfl.gov and there will be an orange banner, click on that banner and the information will be there. Also due to communication issues, if you are having troubles trying to get a hold of somone in the path of the storm you can visit https://fdoh.readyop.com/fs/4cav/bcda. The State E.O.C will route these reports to the apporpiate local agency.

Good morning everyone. As you already know Havana took quite a hit from hurricane Michael yesterday. Officers have been out all night assessing the damage and clearing as much debri as they could from the roadways. The towns utility and road crew are beginning to start the slow, but necessary process of trying to restore power. We can expect to be several days without power so we ask everyone to please stay patient with us as we all try to work together to get back to normal operation.
