WASHINGTON REC CENTER CLOSED TODAY (10/21) - The Washington Recreation Center in Port St. Joe will be closed today (10/21). This is one of the designated dropoff/distribution centers for donations in Gulf County. The center will reopen as a dropoff/distribution center at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Monday, 10/22). The dropoff/distribution center at the Centennial Building in Port St. Joe is open 2-5 p.m. today; the dropoff/distribution center in Wewa is closed today.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS OUT - All Red Lights in town are out, please use caution when traveling through these intersections. When the power goes out at an intersection and the traffic light is not working, Florida State statutes 316.1235 & 316.123 read: "The Driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection in which the traffic lights are in operative shall STOP, after having stopped, the driver Shall YIELD the right away to any vehicle which has entered the intersection". Basically, lights out, stop, then proceed safely if no other vehicles are in the intersection. The driver who doesn't stop and just breezes through the intersection is the one who gets the ticket.
