Last Friday, the good folks from the Domino’s Pizza located at 19526 Cortez Boulevard donated 6 pizzas for our staff to enjoy. The general manager, Ashley (pictured), and the franchise owner, Matt, dropped the pizzas off at our main office in Brooksville. The pizzas were also sent to deputies at our District One office. LAW ENFORCEMENT OPERATIONS • Deputies responded to: o Commercial Burglary – 7395 Broad Street/Brooksville/Discount Connections – Active. o Commercial Burglary – Monticello’s Pizza/Cortez Boulevard/Brooksville – Active. o Commercial Burglary – Metro PCS (Out of Business) – Cortez Boulevard/Brooksville - Active. o Domestic Battery/Witness Tampering – 501 Wellington Road/Spring Hill – Arrest/Male. o Death Investigation – 212 Ederington Road/Brooksville – Male/68 YOA – Probable Suicide – Active. o Suspicious Incident – 11002 Norvell Road/Spring Hill – Deputies dispatched to address to check on a person having a yard sale at a house that was under foreclosure - Upon arrival of deputies, a male ran out the back of the house – Deputies caught up with him a few blocks away to find that he had scales, syringes, spoons, and methamphetamine in his backpack – Arrest/Male. o Aggravated Assault – Tom Varn Park/Darby Lane/Brooksville – a male/ 10 YOA and several of his friends crashed a birthday party that was going on at the pavilion – they asked for drinks (were refused) and attempted to utilize the bounce house (again, refused) – After being asked to leave twice, the 10 YOA pulled a knife on the adult who was facilitating the party – Arrest/Male. o Attempted Robbery by Sudden Snatching – Winn Dixie/Broad Street/Brooksville – Active. o Agency Assist – Deputy drove up on a male killing a gopher tortoise – Powerlines near Lema/Spring Hill Drive – FWC responded and placed male under arrest. o Traffic Stop – Linden/Montague – Spring Hill – While approaching the vehicle the deputy observed the passenger attempting to eat marijuana and various pills (this was thwarted) – Driver and passenger (both males) arrested on various charges. o Vehicle Burglary x4 – ALL VEHICLES UNLOCKED  Gondolier Road  Castle Avenue  Penfield Street – x2 – Active. o Commercial Burglary – Builders Surplus – Broad Street/Brooksville – Active. o Vehicle Burglary – 12228 Verona Street/Spring Hill – Active. o Sexual Battery – Talisman Estates – Active. o Noise Disturbance – Spring Hill – Baker Act – Criminal charges forthcoming. • Schools: o No school on Friday – All SROs participated in an In-Service Training Exercise. • Miscellaneous: o N/A. Sergeant Scott Lamia was spotted all over the Pristine Place area on Halloween night. Several of our Facebook friends sent us pictures of Sergeant Lamia interacting with the Trick-or-Treaters and handing out candy. We hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Sharing a Traffic Advisory from the Florida Department of Transportation: Florida’s Turnpike announces lane closures and work zone information for construction and maintenance projects in Central Florida beginning Sunday, November 4. Motorists should drive with caution through the work zones, and adhere to posted detour signs and speed limits. All paving-related lane closures depend on weather conditions; rain may delay or cancel paving operations. HERNANDO AND CITRUS COUNTIES: - US 98 eastbound and westbound in the vicinity of the Suncoast Parkway -- long-term single lane closures. One lane in each direction will remain open to traffic. -Suncoast Parkway 2- PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Florida’s Turnpike is constructing the Suncoast Parkway 2, a four-lane toll facility that extends the existing Suncoast Parkway northward for 13 miles from US 98 in Hernando County to SR 44 in Citrus County. The project includes constructing full interchanges at US 98 and West Cardinal Street and a partial interchange at SR 44, one wildlife crossing and four wildlife culverts, 15 new bridges, two all-electronic tolling gantries and equipment buildings, and related drainage, lighting, highway signing, traffic signalization, guardrail and sidewalk. The Suncoast Trail, part of Florida’s Statewide Greenways and Trails System, will also be extended from US 98 to SR 44, with a pedestrian overpass constructed over US 98. The cost for this project is approximately $135 million and it is expected to be completed in 2022.

MEDIA RELEASE Deputies Recover Stolen Vehicle - Locate Illegal Narcotics On 10-31-18, Deputies Trevor Jones and Zachary Burkhart (in training) took a Stolen Vehicle report on a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was last seen at the owner’s residence on 10-25-18. The owner believed that an acquaintance may have taken the vehicle; he waited to see if the vehicle would returned. After six days, the owner reported the vehicle stolen. On 11-01-18, while on proactive patrol, Deputies Jones and Burkhart spotted the stolen vehicle travelling south on Commercial Way from Toucan Trail in Spring Hill. Deputies Jones and Burkhart were in an unmarked vehicle, allowing them to follow the stolen vehicle while awaiting the arrival of patrol deputies. While waiting for additional units to arrive, the driver of the stolen vehicle pulled into the 7-Eleven convenience store, located on Commercial Way near Berkeley Manor Boulevard. Once the vehicle was stopped, deputies made contact with the two individuals inside the stolen vehicle, taking them both into custody. The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as Carrie Kearns. The passenger was identified as Noel Figueroa. A search of the pair, incident to arrest, revealed the following items: • 5.0 grams of methamphetamine • 6.5 grams of marijuana – located with 25 individual baggies and a digital scale • 5 tablets of MDMA (Ecstasy). The pair were charged as follows: • Carrie Kearns W/F DOB/07-19-1986 o Grand Theft Auto o Possession of Methamphetamine o Possession of Marijuana w/Intent to Sell o Possession of Heroin o Introduction of Contraband  Once at the detention center, it was determined that Kearns had a cut straw hidden in her bra, which contained a crystal-like substance, consistent with methamphetamine o Possession of MDMA/Ecstasy o Possession of Drug Paraphernalia o Bond - $13,000. • Noel Figueroa H/M DOB/02-22-1978 o Possession of Methamphetamine o Possession of Drug Paraphernalia o Bond - $3,000.
