I wanted to thank the community for attending our annual Community Halloween Event last night. I was excited to see so many families having a great time. I saw a number of great original idea costumes. I love to see thought put into the costume. I am thankful to each of the participants who signed up and handed out candy or put together a fun event for the children (and some adults) to enjoy. Thank you to all who reached out to me last night to say how much you enjoyed the event. It means a lot to know you came and had fun and felt safe. Very thankful to have a wife who loves Halloween and helped me put the event together. Thankful to my officers who attended and stood guard so this community was assured of a safe, fun family event. I look forward to next year. Consider participating next year. You wont regret it. The looks on the faces of people having fun is quite rewarding. If you have feedback you'd like to leave, please do so. But, for those who are going to recommend I move Halloween to a Saturday or hold it on any day except HALLOWEEN, not gonna happen. Halloween occurs on Halloween, Thanksgiving is on Thanksgiving, Christmas on Christmas, and so on. But for all others, leave the good, bad, whatever. Thank you Lake Placid. Happy November. We are officially in the holiday season.

2018 Halloween event

Visitors have the opportunity to make their way around Interlake to Main ave where there are over 50 different locations to enjoy a fun family atmosphere while receiving a trick or treat. In the early morning hours of October 30th, officers responded to 205 Oak Ave in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had sustained several stab wounds to the back of the neck and head area. Evidence suggests the victim and defendant, Benjamin Gonzalez-Rosario (29 of Lake Placid) were drinking alcohol and using illegal drugs at the residence. The victim states Gonzalez-Rosario left the room for a short time and returned with a knife and began to stab him. Gonzalez-Rosario stated the victim had broken into his home through a window, although evidence contradicts his statements. Through the investigative process, officers determined the victim was subjected to an unprovoked attack by Gonzalez-Rosario. Benjamin Gonzalez-Rosario was arrested and charged with attempted homicide. He was transported to the Highlands Co jail. **All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
