PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENT FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES/CONSUMERS From the Office Sheriff Lou Roberts Since the beginning of 2017 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has seen an influx of counterfeit money being passed through various businesses and banks. While investigators are working hard to locate where the money is coming from we feel we need to alert the businesses and consumers about the counterfeit money as well provide them with the counterfeit serial numbers. Attached are the serial numbers that are being used on the counterfeit bills which range from $20 to $100. Should you possess a counterfeit bill you are encouraged to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. On July 24, 2017 at approximately 5:09 P.M., a Deputy with Patrol Division of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department was patrolling South on Hwy 69 in Grand Ridge. The Deputy observed a vehicle with faulty equipment and the operator of the vehicle was unable to maintain a single lane of travel. A traffic stop was condcuted on the vehicle. During the traffic stop consent to search the vehicle was granted by the operator. At the conclusion of the search the following items were located; a clear jewelery style bag that contained a crystal like substance and a cut straw that contained Methamphetamine residue in it. The crystal like substance did show favorable results as being Methamphetamine when field tested. At the conclusion the operator of the vehicle was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First Appearance. Arrested: John Allen Coulliette, 55 years of age, of Sneads, FL. Charges: (1) Possession of Methamphetamine (2) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

From the Office of Sheriff Lou Roberts On July 19, 2017, a Deputy with Patrol Division at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department observed a vehicle traveling on Hwy 90 in Grand Ridge with unsafe equipment. A probable cause traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Hwy 69. During the course of the traffic stop, the operator of the vehicle along with her two passengers were requested to exit the vehicle. A backup Deputy observed a female passenger making furtive movements. He then observed her place a clear plastic rectangle shaped container that did contain a white crystal like substance in a black zipper pouch. The substance did show favorable signs of being Methamphetamine when field tested. During a probable cause search of the vehicle a zipper pouch was located in the storage compartment located on the back of the passenger seat, where the female had been seated in the vehicle. In this pouch the following items were found; multiple jewelry bags containing a white crystal like substance and a glass pipe with suspected Methamphetamine residue. There was also another glass pipe which was located in the storage area behind the seat. At the conclusion of the traffic stop the female passenger was placed under arrest along with male passenger who had an outstanding Child Support Warrant from Jackson County. They both were transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First Appearance. Arrested: Cynthia Stoe, 38 years of age, Marianna, FL Charges: (1) Possession of Methamphetamine (2) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Arrested: John Dennis Jr., 30 years of age, Marianna, FL Charges: (1) Outstanding Child Support Warrant

PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT JACKSON COUNTY, FLA - The Florida Department of Health in Jackson County issued an advisory asking people to avoid swimming in two waterways. Do NOT swim in either Spring Creek or the Chipola River south of hwy 90 in Marianna. An equipment failure caused a discharge of untreated wastewater in an area close to the head of Spring creek. The Jackson County health department says it's a precautionary measure. Bacteria testing will begin today and continue until levels in the water return to normal.

From the Office of Sheriff Lou Roberts On July 16, 2017 at approximately 6:20 P.M., a Patrol Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department observed a traffic infraction on El Bethel Church Road. The vehicle was stopped in the roadway directly in front of El Bethel Assembly of God Church, impeding the flow of traffic. A probable cause traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. As the Deputy approached the vehicle, an odor of Marijuana was emmiting from the interior of the vehicle. At this time a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. At the conclusuon of the search the following items were found; 18.3 grams of a white substance that was field tested and did show favorable signs of being “Crack” Cocaine, a burnt Marijuana cigarette, small jewlery bags and a razor. At the concluson of the traffic stop the operator of the vehicle was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First Appearance. Arrested: Cyrus Brown Jr., 34 years of age, of Grand Ridge, FL Charges: (1) Possession of “Crack” Cocaine with intent to distribute (2) Possession of “Crack” Cocaine within a 1,000 feet of a worship center (3) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

From the Office of Sheriff Lou Roberts NEWS RELEASE On 5-25-17 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department initiated an investigation into the aggravated assault of a female. According to the victim, Thabit Nadir Mateen drove her to a secluded area where he retrieved a pistol. He then struck her in the forehead, causing injury, and fired the weapon near her in an effort to intimidate her. Mateen then reportedly stole the victim’s phone, money, and medication. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Mateen on 6-13-17. On 6-27-17 he was taken into custody at his residence on Jackson Rd. near Jacob without incident by the U.S. Marshal Task Force and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Division . He was booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance. During the course of the six-week investigation, law enforcement officers discovered that Mears was in violation of his obligation to register required information with the Sheriff’s Office. A hold was placed on Mears, who is currently housed in the Liberty County Jail on unrelated charges. He will be returned to Jackson County to face charges at a later date. From the Office Sheriff Lou Roberts On June 16, 2017, three white males entered Wal-Mart located at 2255 HWY 71, Marianna, Florida and made individual purchases of various small items in which they each paid for using a counterfeit $100 bill. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in trying to identify the three individuals who passed the counterfeit money. All three subjects were observed exiting a dark colored 4 door Chevrolet vehicle with no license plate. Suspect #1: W/M wearing a red t-shirt with an “S” imprinted on the front, dark colored shorts, a hat and flip flops. Suspect #2: W/M wearing a light colored button down long sleeve shirt (Columbia brand style), blue jeans, a grey colored hat and dark colored shoes. This suspect appears to have sunglasses with blue lens affixed to his hat and eye glasses tucked into the front of his shirt. Suspect #3: W/M wearing a short sleeve shirt, white cargo type shorts, and socks with flip flops. The body of the shirt is white with blue sleeves and he is wearing a white Under Armour on the front of the hat. He has tattoos on both forearms and one on the right calf. From the Office of Sheriff Lou Roberts NEWS RELEASE On 6-19-17 at approximately 7:51 p.m. the Fugitive Apprehension Division of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Cottondale Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol, took Shannon Lee Harrison into custody at a residence on Zion St. in Cottondale Florida. Harrison was reported as an escapee from the Houston County Community Correctional Facility on Saturday, June 17th after he absconded from a work detail. With the help of the public, Harrison was located and taken into custody without incident. The residents where he was staying were unaware that he had escaped. He also had outstanding warrants from Covington, Geneva, Houston , and Coffee Counties, all in Alabama as well as a warrant from Holmes County Florida. Charges ranged from probation violations to burglary, theft, and forgery with the most serious charge being escape. He was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance before being extradited to various other jurisdictions to face charges. From the Sheriff Of Lou Roberts UPDATE ON MURDER SUSPECTS The two fugitives, Donnie Rowe Jr., and Ricky Dubose have been CAPTURED! Both subjects were capturedat 6:40 PM Central Time in Shelbyville, TN after they carjacked a couple and tied them up and stole the victim's firearm. An alert Officer spotted the stolen vehicle and gave chase after a pursuit both fugitives were apprehended. Thank you to all Law Enforcement who have spend countless man hours in pursuit of these suspects. A sigh of relief that they have been caught and lives have been spared.
