ZPD is committed to supporting survivors and ending violence in our community. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and our partners at Sunrise of Pasco, Inc. Domestic & Sexual Violence Center are encouraging everyone to help break the silence and start the conversation. If you suspect someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, help them break the silence. Have them call the National Domestic Violence Hotline: (800) 799-SAFE (7233) or, locally, Sunrise of Pasco, Inc. on their 24-hour Hotline: (352) 521-3120. Of course, in any emergency situation, always call 911.

So...a thing happened today [cue the music "We are the Champions" by Queen] and we thought we'd take a second to exercise our right to brag! As part of the grand opening festivities today of the new Wawa located at 6450 Gall Blvd (US Hwy 301), five members of the Zephyrhills Police Department went head-to-head with members of Zephyrhills Fire Rescue in the Hoagies for Heroes hoagie building contest. As evidenced by the trophy pictured below and now proudly displayed in the lobby at ZPD, we were victorious in this battle of will, bravery, oh...and skill of sandwich building, as we successfully built more hoagies in 3 minutes than our comrades from the fire department. Lt. Matt Hillen, Officer Mike O'Donnell, Sgt. Ailisa Starnes, K9 Officer Lorenzo Limoges, and Crime Scene Investigator SanJuanita Gonzalez mastered the art of building hoagies the Wawa way and took home the trophy for the win. Way to go, ZPD! But we're not the only winners today in this friendly contest because Wawa donated $1,000 each to both ZPD's and ZFR's local charity of choice. ZPD chose one of our community partners, Sunrise of Pasco, Inc., who provides individual counseling, advocacy, and support services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. ZFR participated to help out the Zephyrhills Elks Lodge which runs the much-needed Feed the Children program during the summer months for needy families in the community. Thanks to Wawa for allowing us to participate in the fun and for helping us and ZFR support two deserving local community organizations. Welcome to the neighborhood! <3

Happy Father's Day to all Dads out there from all of us at ZPD. Thanks for all you do! May those who call you "Dad" shower you with love today and every day.
