GREAT WORK by our Street Crimes Unit! 👏🚔 Our Officers arrested a Sarasota man after a traffic stop lead to the seizure of 20 grams of marijuana and the recovery of a stolen firearm. Dariente L. Singletary, 20, of Palmadelia Avenue, Sarasota, has been charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm (felony), Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell/Manufacture/Deliver (felony) and Resisting an Officer with Violence (felony). Officers initiated a traffic stop and contacted Singletary. After refusing multiple commands from the Officers, Singletary was handcuffed and taken out of the car. Singletary was walked back to a patrol car but gave resistance and straightened his legs and torso to prevent both doors from being closed. Officers were able to secure Singletary in the patrol car. During a search of the car Singletary was driving, Officers located: • 9mm Pistol with a loaded magazine with 9 rounds of ammunition (this firearm was later listed as stolen out of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office). • 20.8 grams of marijuana. • $2,275 in U.S. currency (an additional $6,400 was found in Singletary’s pockets) making the total $8,675 in U.S. currency. • Digital scale, two cell phones, clear plastic sandwich bags (commonly used to package and sell narcotics).
