The Altamonte Springs Police Department is proud to be accredited through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA) and was initially awarded accredited status through the CFA on February 18, 1998. The Police Department achieved re-accredited status after undergoing successful assessment processes in 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016. On February 24, 2016, the Altamonte Springs Police Department received Excelsior Recognition for the second consecutive time with the completion of 6 successful re-accreditations.
In the on-going endeavor to retain re-accreditation and Excelsior status, a team of assessors from the CFA will conduct an on-site assessment of the Altamonte Springs Police Department. Verification must be made by assessors that the Altamonte Springs Police Department meets the Commission’s standards as part of a voluntary process to gain or maintain accreditation-a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. The team will arrive on November 5, 2018, to examine all aspects of the Altamonte Springs Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services, and to certify the agency complies with approximately 260 standards in order to receive accredited status. Many of the standards are critical to life, health, and safety issues.
