A special congratulation to Senior Crime Analyst Christin Berges who graduated today from Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy! In 2003, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) developed the Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA). This academy is the first of its kind in the nation. Analysts learn criminal and intelligence analysis skills that are used by law enforcement and other emergency responders to successfully prevent crime and conduct complex investigations as well as a variety of other complex analytical skills.

Don't be the dealer! National Drug Take-back Day is on October 27th! Locations and times listed below:

Seminole County law enforcement came together over the last 48 hours to put together a team of officers to travel north to the panhandle to relieve Seminole County Sheriff's Office deputies who have been deployed for the last 10 days. It worked out perfectly that the current need for replacement officers was 7 and there are 7 cities within Seminole County. Sheriff Lemma deputized the group a few hours ago and they are heading north as we speak to begin work tomorrow morning in #HurricaneMichael recovery. Here are some of the pictures from the swearing in of all the officers, alongside with their Chiefs and Sheriff taken before they took off. Officer Todd Smith is the first ASPD volunteer to make the trip as part of this group! Please keep those affected by this storm and all the volunteers assisting in recovery efforts in your thoughts and prayers.

The Altamonte Springs Police Department is proud to be accredited through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA) and was initially awarded accredited status through the CFA on February 18, 1998. The Police Department achieved re-accredited status after undergoing successful assessment processes in 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016. On February 24, 2016, the Altamonte Springs Police Department received Excelsior Recognition for the second consecutive time with the completion of 6 successful re-accreditations. In the on-going endeavor to retain re-accreditation and Excelsior status, a team of assessors from the CFA will conduct an on-site assessment of the Altamonte Springs Police Department. Verification must be made by assessors that the Altamonte Springs Police Department meets the Commission’s standards as part of a voluntary process to gain or maintain accreditation-a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. The team will arrive on November 5, 2018, to examine all aspects of the Altamonte Springs Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services, and to certify the agency complies with approximately 260 standards in order to receive accredited status. Many of the standards are critical to life, health, and safety issues. As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. A copy of the standards is available through the CFA’s website: www.flaccreditation.org For more information regarding the CFA or for persons wishing to offer written comments about the Altamonte Springs Police Department’s ability to meet the standards of accreditation, please write: CFA, P.O.
