Milledgeville PD's Child Car Seat Check has been going successfully. It's not too late to get your car seat examined by our certified car seat technicians. The event ends at noon today.

Local 4 year old Justin May said “police weren’t real” and that they didn’t do everyday things like other folks in the community. Well MPD’s night shift proved otherwise, especially when they showed up to his flag football game at the recreation department to cheer him on & show support. Thank you Sgt. Marquita Driskell & Officers Clint Buggle, Philip Vinson & Darius Binion for showing Justin there’s a heart behind the badge.

MPD received a traffic grant from Governors Office of Highway Safety for over $9,000. The funds will be used to help reduce the number of traffic accidents, injuries & fatalities by providing our agency with new and improved radar units. Radar units are used in an effort to reduce speed related accidents.

Today officers and staff of The Milledgeville Police Department presented Chief Swicord with a plaque of appreciation in observance of National Bosses Day!

MPD’s Special Response Team (SRT) is getting active this morning in the 2nd Annual Charity 5K at Central State Hospital. This year, proceeds from the race will benefit Communities in Schools of Milledgeville and Baldwin County.

The mandatory curfew for Milledgeville and Baldwin County will be lifted at 8 a.m.

Public safety officials issue mandatory curfew; government offices closed With dangerous storm conditions approaching the area, local public safety officials with the City of Milledgeville and Baldwin County are issuing a county wide mandatory curfew. The curfew will go in effect tonight at 11 p.m. Only emergency personnel will be allowed on the roadways. Officials will determine Thursday when the curfew will be lifted. Police Chief Dray Swicord and Sheriff Bill Massee feel the mandatory curfew is necessary due to the weather conditions created in the area by the fast approaching storm. In addition to the curfew, city government offices will be closed Thursday.
