Storms! Tornados! Hurricanes! Oh my! Did you know that AASU offers a service that notifies students, faculty, and staff about
severe weather conditions? It’s called Connect Blackboard 5, or BLAST. In the event of severe weather and other emergencies, Armstrong Police Department’s Dispatch logs into BLAST and sends a specific message that gets forwarded to all individuals who are
registered in the system. It can either be sent as a mass text message, or as a pre-recorded voice mail that is sent straight to your registered telephone. BLAST will also send out another message to notify all recipients when the threat has passed. This system is used only for emergencies.
