Last week's WTOC-TV was South Effingham High School Band Director Sean McBride. McBride says his passion for music started at a very early age. He loves to share that love of music with his students. "There's a real family atmosphere, I feel like I'm a piece of it," McBride said. "I try to make sure we get the kids where they'll get the most out of the experience and try to stay out of the way because it's about them, not me." This week's WTOC-TV Top Teacher is Kara Simons from St. Andrew's School - Savannah, GA. Simons, who teaches fourth grade, incorporates many fun activities into her classroom to help reach her students. "If they can't get it one way, we try another way," Simons said. "We're always constantly trying new things. And that's the challenge for me that I enjoy, because they're not always going to get it on the first try." This week's WTOC-TV Top Teacher is Dr. Carl Stein from Gould Elementary School. Stein, who teaches second grade at Gould, was previously a college professor in Ohio. He prepared others to teach special education and promised his college students that he would one day return to the classroom. Going back to teaching younger students has rejuvenated Stein. Shaw Industries Group, Inc.has expanded its distribution and warehousing capacity with the lease of three facilities in the Savannah area, totaling 2.2 million square feet. At center, David Morgan, executive vice president of operations at Shaw Industries, and GPA Board Chairman Jimmy Allgood were among officials and dignitaries celebrating the opening of the company’s latest build-to-suit facility at the Northport Industrial Park on Monday. The global flooring provider already employs more than 200 associates, and expects to add 100 more once the new building reaches full capacity.

Georgia Ports Authority's annual internship program provides real-world work experience at one of the country’s premier seaports to traditional college students. GPA is currently seeking a summer intern majoring in public relations, journalism or mass communications. Applicants must be undergraduates, who will graduate after August 2018.
