Lt. Belanger and Officer Smith “Gets to Know” The Volunteers of the 2014 Games for Health Jam, while patrolling the University! Game Jam is the creation of games that address large-scale health priorities. This was an all weekend event and was very successful for all of the game designers that attended.

Officer Guerrero “Gets to Know” the Penguin class of Kids are Kids of West Cobb, while patrolling! The Penguin class learned about Police Officers this week. Officer Guerrero showed them what a police officer looked like and also helped explain how police officers help people in need!

Officer Garland “Gets to Know” DH Pace Technician , Jeff Burgess while patrolling the University! Jeff works as technician for DH Pace on our very own campus for security control. Jeff enjoys his job and likes the students, faculty, and staff that he meets every day.

Lt. Manns “Gets to Know” Master Kim and a few of his students while patrolling the University! Master Kim's students just made the trip from Brazil to compete in the Atlanta International Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Master Kim is also the Head Instructor at Impact Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Marietta near Southern Poly campus.

Lieutenant Belanger and Officer Smith "Get to Know" the "Far East Movement. The "Far East Movement" performed live in concert on our campus recently. The group commented on how much they enjoyed performing on our campus and expressed their appreciation for the SPSU Police Department for providing security for the event.

Officer Guerrero "Gets to Know" William Martin. William Martin is 12 years old and attending the AeroSpace Engineering camp at SPSU. William says he wants to eventually earn a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Good luck William!

Sergeant Chandler "Gets to Know" Trisha Buchanan. Trisha Buchanan is the Secretary of University Communications and she has been an active staff member of the SPSU campus for 12 years.

Officer Smith "Gets to Know" SPSU student, Alphonsus Onyewuchi. Alphonsus's hobbies include: writing music, producing music, and helping others. Alphonsus is currently obtaining a degree in Video Production and his future plans include starting his own record label.

Officer Garland "Gets to Know" SPSU student, Logan Foster. Logan has been attending SPSU as a student since 2012 and is trying to obtain a major in Mechanical Engineering. Logan likes the attitude of the staff and the students at SPSU and is a student assistant to Diana Cosme.

Lt. Belanger "Gets to Know" SPSU student, Luke Perrin. Perrin is a third year IT student. Although Perrin is a commuter student, he enjoys hanging out in Hornet Village with friends and playing video games.

Sergeant Chandler "Gets to Know" April McLeroy who has worked in Human Resources for two years. She always very helpful and is a Marine as-well, so that speaks volumes.

Officer Guerrero "gets to know" Ronald Ward. Ronald Ward has been working for the University Facilities for approximately 19 months. Mr. Ward is a graduate of SPSU with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Mr. ward also played basketball for the University in the 90's and still enjoys playing basketball as a hobby.

Officer Garland “Gets to Know” third year student Kaeli Ariail, Kaeli is majoring in New Media Arts with a minor in Information Technology. Kaeli works part time at the Wellness Center and she also likes the fact that SPSU is close to home and that SPSU provides a challenging environment.

Lt. Belanger “Gets to Know” third year SPSU student Stephen Merritt, while patrolling the University! Stephen is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and is resident of Hornet Village. He enjoys all types off "gaming" with fellow SPSU students and friends.

Captain Richardson and Captain Yeager stopped by The Deeksha School of Performing Arts Production which was held in the Student Center building A. This production was sponsored by Sagepath on Saturday June 14.The Deeksha School of Performing Arts Production is a charity that provides housing, food, and education for children in India. Our Captains were able to take a picture with the Patel family in the lobby of the Student Center. The Patel family volunteers, participate, and work with the children of the charity.

In the spirit of Men's Health Awareness Week, we would like to offer tips on maintaining a healthy and elongated lifestyle. Being that heart disease is the number one cause of death for men, our tips will be directed towards preventing that illness. An easy way to remember the tips that you are receiving is to recall the ABCs of heart disease, Avoid tobacco, Be more active, and Choose a good nutrition.
