Representative Jodi Lott (District 122) was recognized during Tuesday's Board of Commissioners meeting with a 2018 Association County Commissioner of Georgia's (ACCG) Legislative Service Award. The ACCG Legislative Service Awards program honors state House and Senate members for their work during the legislative session. The awards honor legislators who have a demonstrated knowledge of and a commitment to local governments. Rep. Jodi Lott was the primary force in accomplishing one of ACCG's legislative priorities during the 2018 session of the General Assembly. She championed legislation, ultimately adopted via Senate Bill 371, to allow local governments to receive lists of vendors currently paying sales taxes in their jurisdictions. SB 371 will allow counties to help Department of Revenue spot problems earlier, thereby limiting the likelihood of later large sales tax refunds. Rep. Lott's efforts will lead to much needed predictability and increased accuracy for Georgia counties in regard to this vital revenue resource. Thank you, Rep. Jodi Lott, for your hard work and commitment to our county and the state of Georgia.
