Dunwoody Officers participated in the 2018 Truck-or-Treat Event at Dunwoody Food Truck Thursday! Our officers and staff wore their costumes and decorated our SWAT Bearcat and patrol cars as we handed out candy, glow sticks and 'See & Be Seen' blue safety flashers to children. This is our second year promoting the See & Be Seen campaign. The safety flashers are used as a safety tool to make children more visible the night of Halloween while trick-or-treating. Good Morning Dunwoody! It’s been three and a half months since the Hands-Free Driving Law went into effect and we want to share a little about what we are seeing locally and at the state level. On October 3rd, the Georgia House of Representatives reported “As of September 30, 2018, fatalities from traffic crashes in Georgia are down 11 percent year to date, which represents the largest decrease of Georgia’s traffic fatalities in 10 years. Year to date, there have been 128 fewer fatalities in 2018 over 2017.” We have also seen nearly a 7% reduction in traffic crashes here in Dunwoody between July and September. As many of you know, we gave a 30 day grace period to continue our efforts to educate drivers on the new law. Between August 1st and September 30th, we issued 127 citations for Hands-Free violations and gave numerous warnings. As awareness of the law continues to grow, and we see increased driver compliance, we strongly believe the reductions in traffic crashes and injuries will continue to increase. Everyone can do their part by putting the phone down and paying attention. Together we can reduce crashes and make our roadways safer. (RP)

Here’s Officer Jones typing away! The backend of a good arrest is the paperwork...lots and lots of paperwork. Why is it all those tv shows never show the officers working on paperwork? FE

Here’s the scene from a traffic stop by Officer Pace. Officer Pace stopped a reckless driver and learned the person was wanted for shoplifting. To make matters worse the person was in possession of illegal drugs. Nice work Officer Pace! FE
