If you missed Wind Down Wednesday In The Point, you missed out on a good event! We look forward to seeing you, and even more of you, next month! Remember it’s the 4th Wednesday of the month.

We would like to introduce you to one of our great officers here in East Point and recognize him for outstanding service . A selfless officer that recently saved a life. Here is the text of a letter written by Corporal Hulet's Watch Commander. Special thanks to Chief Gardner for letting us share with you. Chief Gardener, I wanted to take a moment to recognize one of our officers here in the city of East Point. On 05/01/18 Cpl. Hulet was working an extra job at the Walmart located at 844 Cleveland Avenue. Cpl. Hulet was advised of a male having what appeared to be a medical emergency. Cpl. Hulet located the man and accessed his condition. Cpl. Hulet advised over the radio that the male was not breathing and that he was starting CPR. A few minutes later I arrived on the scene. I saw the male lying on the floor with emergency medical staff tending to him. The male was semi-conscious, semi-alert but was breathing on his own. While speaking with a Walmart loss prevention employee he said to Cpl. Hulet “I knew there was a reason you came to work today!” He went on to explain to me that Cpl. Hulet was not feeling well but he decided to at least try and work. According to the loss prevention employee and several bystanders Cpl. Hulet “saved a man’s life today”. While standing by I also observed Cpl. Hulet being hugged by bystanders and being very attentive with the male that had the emergency. Chief. I would like to present this letter to Cpl. Hulet and request that a copy be placed into his personnel file to permanently memorialize the great effort put forth by one of our finest. It is an honor to work alongside Cpl. Hulet as well as all of the great officers here in the City of East Point. Captain Allyn Glover

Kudos to the officers of the East Point Police Department! Today they were able to arrest a suspect that had upwards of 40 arrest warrants for breaking into cars around the Metro Atlanta area. On February 13, 2018 East Point Police Department received a 911 call in reference to occupants in a Grey Hyundai Sonata attempting to break into cars in the Target parking lot at Camp Creek Market Place. An East Point officer was able to intercept the vehicle and check the tag, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen out of Dekalb County. It was advised that the occupants of the vehicle had been involved in multiple crimes and had even fired a shot at a person while fleeing the scene of a crime on this date. The responding officer to the Target could see and positively identify the driver of the vehicle, he was identified as Dante Bell. The vehicle fled from the location and officers lost sight. The vehicle was later located unoccupied in Lexington Apartments (2996 Kentucky Ct. East Point, Fulton County, GA 30344). It was advised that one of the occupants was posting on social media and walking in the area of Brookfield Apartments (3072 Washington Rd. East Point, Fulton County, GA 30344). East Point Officers responded to the area and observed Bell exiting an apartment, when he noticed the police he retreated back inside. Officers surrounded the apartment and an occupant inside opened the door, allowing for officers to take Bell into custody without incident. Bell was arrested and transported to East Point Jail. It was determined that Bell had upwards of 40 arrest warrants from multiple agencies throughout the Metro Atlanta area for breaking into vehicles.
