Earlier this evening, we responded to an accident on Pond Ridge in which a 10 year old was struck by a vehicle which fled the scene. Below is the information from our press release. If you have any information, please contact us at 847-362-8310. On 10/31/2018 at 6:10 pm, Libertyville Police & Fire personnel were dispatched to the 200 block of Pond Ridge for a report of a hit and run accident involving a child. Upon arrival, police and fire crews found a 10 year male who had been trick or treating with several other youths had been struck by a vehicle. The victim was conscious and breathing, and Fire paramedics immediately began treatment. The victim was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was treated and expected to be released later this evening. Witnesses at the scene stated that the offending vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed when it jumped a curb, struck a mailbox and then the victim. The vehicle fled the subdivision at a high rate of speed. The vehicle is described as a gray Nissan or Lexus 4-door with tinted windows. The vehicle sustained front passenger side damage as a result of this incident. Libertyville Police are continuing their investigation, and are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Libertyville Police are also asking all local car dealerships and body shops to be on the watch for any vehicle matching the above description and damage that may brought in for repairs. TRAFFIC ALERT: Route 45 northbound is closed at Peterson. Beginning today (10/18), and continuing for approximately 1 month, northbound Route 45 is closed between Peterson and Route 137 so Metra can replace the retaining wall that collapsed in September. The recommended detour route is Route 83 to Route 120.

TRAFFIC ALERT - UPCOMING ROUTE 45 ROAD CLOSURE The Village has been informed by Metra that beginning Wednesday, 10/17 - Northbound Route 45 will be closed between Peterson and Route 137. The recommended detour route is Route 83 to Route 120. This is due to the replacement of the retaining wall that collapsed in September. The closure is expected to last approximately 1 month. UPDATE: We're being told that the closure will go into effect overnight on 10/17 and be in effect the morning of 10/18.

*Traffic & parking alert* LHS's Homecoming football game is tonight! Expect heavy traffic in the area. Parking is restricted on sidestreets in adjacent neighborhoods and will be enforced. This ensures that emergency vehicles and other traffic can traverse these streets. Plan for traffic congestion and delays. GO WILDCATS!!

*Traffic alert* Libertyville High School's Homecoming parade is this Saturday at 9:30 a.m.. The parade travels from the Metra lot at 200 Lake St. down Milwaukee Ave., then west on Route 176 to the high school. Milwaukee will be closed between Winchester and Route 176; and Route 176 will be closed between Milwaukee and Dawes starting at 9:15 a.m., and continuing until the parade has cleared the route. Plan for heavy traffic congestion, and seek alternate routes.
