On this day... 17 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. Copied and shared 💔 Never forget.

It's close to the start of a new school year. To get parents and students thinking we felt this well made video to be very educational and it brings a different perspective. A couple points to take away should be bullying is not ok and if you see or hear something report it. Let's not hear about it the "day after".

The Rushville City Hall and Police Department are aware of this person soliciting in the city. He currently has a permit. Gravel work at the Rushville Police Department range. Hauled and worked by Don Schieferdecker. Thank you so much Don for the gravel, leveling with the backhoe, and all your support.

It's a city ordinance violation to blow grass clippings into the street. But everytime we say that it seems we told the best Facebook joke of the day. Have a wonderful day!

Officer Rick Wright is home and recovering. Thanks to all for the prayers. It will be a few weeks until we'll see him in a patrol car, but he will be back.

Update: Rick Wright Chest tubes are out! Keep going Rick, be strong!

4/9/18 Update on Rick's progress: Rick was taken off the vent and the intubation tube removed around 3pm. He is already able to whisper some conversation. His oxygen saturation level was good. He has a long road ahead, but he has the will to make it happen, and probably fast as possible. Rick looked good tonight, even with all he has been through. Keep the prayers and thoughts going for his recovery. Thank you

Update: 4/8/18 Rick Wright An attempt was made to take Rick off the ventilator today, but he is still weak and in a lot of pain, and had to start back on the ventilator. Rick is in ICU at St John's Hospital. Keep strong Rick!

Update on Rick Wright Update: They could not take the ventilator out. There is still too much fluid. He is awake and communicating with everyone through hand motions and notes. They will try to take him off the ventilator tomorrow. Keep prayers going for Rick

Update on Officer Rick Wright They started surgery today at 11:53 and the doctor just came out to talk to the family at about 1:45. They had to do the “worse” of the two options for surgery. For those that understand medical terms, they did a thoracotomy to clean out his lung. The surgeon seemed confident in how the surgery went. He will be on the ventilator/breathing tube for another 24-48 hours with a long hospital stay to follow. Our prayers are with Officer Wright and his family during this very difficult time.

Counterfeit currency---update. The male suspect is in custody. Thank you for all your help.

COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY March 25, 2018 at approximately 6:18 pm an unknown male entered the Family Dollar Store in Rushville. The male proceeded to the checkout counter and purchased one item. The male suspect placed a $100.00 bill on the counter and the cashier gave change for the $100.00. A local bank received the currency and contacted the store advising that it is a counterfeit bill. All local businesses should be cautious in taking the $100.00 bill and follow your loss prevention methods. We have had $20.00 counterfeit currency at two local businesses this year, and we encourage businesses to be cautious with those as well. A photograph of the suspect involved in passing the $100.00 at Family Dollar was obtained from the surveillance video. If anyone can identify the male suspect please call the Rushville Police Department at 217-322-6633. Thank you for all your help. We have the male suspect in custody.
