The Bolingbrook Police proudly welcome four new officers to our department. Officers Corbett, Scully, Luna and Reyes were sworn in to their positions by the Mayor at the Village Board meeting on August 28th. Officer Corbett will immediately start the Field Training Program. Officers Scully, Luna and Reyes are attending the police academy. All four officers are looking forward to serving our great community.

Bolingbrook Police K-9 Officers Liazuk and O'Hara competed at the 19th Annual K-9 Olympics. We are proud to announce yet another outstanding performance by our team. Congratulations to both officers. Officer O'Hara & K-9 partner Johan were awarded: 1st Place Narcotics Door Bottoms 3rd Place Narcotic Team Overall Officer Liazuk & K-9 partner Leon were awarded: 1st Place Open Area Narcotics 2nd Place Narcotic Luggage 2nd Place Hogan's Alley (Patrol Event) 3rd Place Narcotic Team Overall For the team event (3 man team), they were partnered with Officer Chris Don & K-9 Scar with Rolling Meadows PD. They won the team event.

The 27th Annual Taste of Pakistan was hosted August 25th at the Performing Arts Center in Bolingbrook. Bolingbrook K-9 Officer Bob Liazuk was honored at the event and presented with an extinguished service award. Officer Liazuk and his partner Leon have been a vital asset to the department and our community. He was presented a plaque in front of a crowd of thousands. Numerous members of the police department were in attendance and it was a great event for all.

Members of the Bolingbrook Police Department participated in the Bolingbrook STEM Program Back to School Bash on August 25th. Officer Thomas supplied information to attendees at the Police Department informational booth.

Bolingbrook Police participated in the Annual National Night Out event on August 7th. Various subdivisions throughout Bolingbrook hosted neighborhood gatherings, as members from the Police Department visited each location. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.

Advantage Chevrolet Bolingbrook hosted the USO BBQ for the troops on July 14th. Food was supplied by Hampton Park Social Athletic Club and broadcasted live by 95.9 - The River. Deputy Mayor Mike Lawler, Public Safety Director Ken Teppel and Deputy Police Chief Mike Rompa attended the benefit.

Shuttles will be running continuously back and forth from the Bolingbrook Golf Club and the parking lots at Plainfield East High School (12001 Naperville Road, Plainfield) and Rodeo Drive and Dalton from 5:00 PM until 11:30 PM (last shuttle leaves the Golf Club at 11:15PM) today for the 4th of July Celebration.

Bolingbrook Police Officer Chris Witt was honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018. Sam Canzoneri the State Executive Director for MADD presented Ofc. Witt with an award for being one of the top five officers in all of Will County with DUI arrests. The event was held in conjunction with the organization hosting a 5K fundraising event at the Will County Forest Preserve in Mokena, IL.

Bolingbrook Police were well represented at today's Cavalcade of Planes and annual open house at Clow airport. This is a family event including WWII aircraft, new aircraft, general aviation aircraft, helicopters, activities for the kids, and aircraft flybys. This was a great day to interact and meet many of the members of our community. The event continues on Sunday, June 3rd.

The Bolingbrook Cop on a Rooftop was held at 245 S. Bolingbrook Dr. on Friday, May 18, 2018. This is only one of several fundraising events hosted by the Bolingbrook Police for Special Olympics. This event raised over $2,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. We were honored to have local members from the Special Recreation Association appear at this great community outreach program! A sincere thank you to the Dunkin’ Donuts staff and to all of those who donated to help support Special Olympics!

On May 5th, members of the Bolingbrook Police Department were led by Director Teppel in the 14th Annual Chicago Police Memorial Foundation 5K Run to remember the fallen. There were approximately 5,000 participants. Officer Gruben led BPD and finished 22nd overall.

The AMITA Health Bolingbrook St. Paddy's Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk was hosted at the Village of Bolingbrook Town Center March 18th. This was a great event with large tournout. Bolingbrook Police Officers did a stand up job keeping everyone safe, along with the pedestrian and vehicular traffic flowing. Public Safety Director Ken Teppel finished the event in record time!

Bolingbrook Police Department was well represented at the St. Baldrick's fundraiser held at the Bolingbrook Golf Club on March 11th. Bolingbrook 4 Kids was formed by the local police and fire departments to involve the community in our crusade to find a cure! Our Bolingbrook 4 Kids event ranks in the top 40 events in the world!

The Bolingbrook Police Department was well represented at the 2018 Polar Plunge on Saturday, March 10th at Leisure Lake. The BPD won the Top Gun Trophy for most money raised by a Police Department. The funding will go to benefit the Special Olympics of Illinois.

On March 7th the Bolingbrook Fire Department sponsored an event at the new Rock Bottom Restaurant in the Promenade Mall, Bolingbrook. Partial proceeds of the event benefited MDA. On March 2nd the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation hosted their annual dinner and auctions at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. The foundation generates resources to enhance the quality of education in school district 365U. Public Safety Director Ken Teppel, Deputy Chief Mike Rompa and Commander Rich Hilliard were in attendance.

The Bolingbrook Police Department is proud to announce the Exchange Club Officer of the Year, Officer Nick Higens. In addition to his on-duty achievements, he is an active volunteer with Illinois Special Olympics and the Bolingbrook Police Explorer Program. Officer Higens was honored at the Bolingbrook Golf Club on February 28, 2018.

The Bolingbrook Police Department is proud to announce the VFW Officer of the Year, Officer Traneil Thomas. Officer Thomas is a current School Resource Officer, 15 year veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was honored at the Village Board Meeting on February 27, 2018.

The Bolingbrook Police Department welcomes our newest member, Sergio Pimentel. Officer Pimentel has prior law-enforcement experience and will begin the field training program this week. He is looking forward to serving the citizens of our great community.

Bolingbrook Police hosted their 19th Annual Shop with a Cop program at Meijer, 755 E. Boughton Rd. Over 100 Bolingbrook children were treated to a $75 shopping spree courtesy of Meijer. This positive outreach program enables officers to interact with area youth and establish a rapport with each participant. The event truly enhances the holiday spirit within the Bolingbrook community.
