Huntingburg Police Department News

On 10/29/2018 Officer Tim Roos with the Huntingburg Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 19th Street and Medical Arts Dr. During the stop Officer Roos recognized Austin Zehr (DOB 3/07/1996) who was in the passenger seat of the vehicle and had active warrants out of Dubois County. Officer Roos ordered Austin out of the vehicle and attempted to detain him. Austin exited the vehicle and attacked Officer Roos striking him multiple times with brass knuckles. Austin continued to resist however, Officer Roos was able to take Austin to the ground and gain control of him until additional officers arrived. Officer Roos sustained multiple minor injuries. Therefore he was transported to Memorial ER by ambulance where he was evaluated and released. During the incident Dubois Co. Dispatch received 911 calls reporting an officer getting attacked which allowed additional officers to be dispatched for assistance. The Huntingburg Police would like to thank the citizens who called. The Dubois Co. Sheriff’s Department and Memorial EMS assisted with this incident. Austin was booked into the Dubois Co. Security Center for the following warrants and charges; Theft/Class A Misdemeanor & Failure to return to lawful detention/ Level 6 Felony Additional Charges; 1 Count Aggravated Battery (Lvl 3 Felony), 2 Counts Battery on Public Safety Official (Lvl 5 Felony), 2 Counts Resisting Law Enforcement (Lvl 6 Felony), Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (Lvl 5 Felony), 1 Count Possession of Methamphetamines (Lvl 6 Felony) & 1 Count Possession of Syringe (Lvl 6 Felony).

This little girl was picked up at Jackson Street and 2nd Street at approximately 4:50pm and brought to the station. If this is your dog contact 812-683-4111.

Huntingburg Police were conducting an investigation at a house in the 300 block of North Jackson Street. During the investigation Officers learned that Levi Hopper(pictured) ran out the back door upon their arrival. Hopper is wanted on felony charges out of Dubois County. ***UPDATE*** Stolen Vehicle has been recovered. ***STOLEN VEHICLE*** The Huntingburg Police Department is asking for the publics assistance in locating a stolen 1997 Beige Pontiac Sunfire. Plate Number AGQ450. It was stolen from a location in Huntingburg at or around 1:30PM. Anyone with information on the where abouts of the vehicle is asked to contact 812-683-4111. This week the Huntingburg Police Department, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Jasper Police Department worked together to arrest six people on warrants in connection to an investigation that was launched by the Huntingburg Police Department on July 12, 2018. The initial call was on July 11th 2018 when Huntingburg Police were dispatched to a location in Huntingburg reference a welfare check on a 14-year-old juvenile who was possibly under the influence of methamphetamine. Huntingburg Police located the juvenile and who was then transported to the hospital due to her condition. On July 12th 2018 the detective with the Huntingburg Police Department along with the Huntingburg Police Narcotic Officer, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department Narcotic Officer, and the Jasper Police Department Narcotic Officer, started an investigation to look into the incident from July 11th. Through their investigation, police learned that several adults were contributing drugs to the 14-year-old. Police say that two adult males had a sexual relationship with the juvenile. Police say that Leonel Hernandez had sexual relations with a juvenile in July of 2018. Police learned that Leonel was also contributing drugs to the juvenile. Police say that they learned Austin Elliot had sexual relations with the juvenile in 2017. Leonel Hernandez - Sexual Misconduct with a Minor - Level 4 Felony, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor - Level 5 Felony. Austin Elliot - Child Molesting - Level 1 Felony Cassandra Cole - Neglect of a Dependent - Level 5 Felony, Neglect of a Dependent - Level 6 Felony Jessica Adams - Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor - Level 5 Felony. Chelsea Mattingly - Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor - Level 5 Felony. Trisha Kendall - Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor - Level 5 Felony. All suspects are innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
