The York Police Department would like to warn vacationers of summer rental scams. We have had a couple of calls from out of town where people have put a down payment on a summer rental and found out the ad on craigslist was fake. Some people realize this prior to coming to town others realize this when they arrive in town for their vacation. Scammers take the legit rental ad from another web sites. They then re-post it on craigslist with different contact information and take your money. Please make contact with the people you are renting from, try to meet with them face to face or with a real estate agent. Take a ride to our town and see the phone numbers listed in the windows of the rentals. The FAKE rental ads can be on any website, we just mention craigslist because that is where the majority of our scams come from. If this does happen to you, you need to contact your local police department. The theft of your money occurred in your hometown. Please be extra cautious when renting a summer home, we don’t want you to arrive for your vacation and have no place to stay.

Happy Friday! Another great morning at the beach. Looks like next week will reach the 70’s on some days. Enjoy your weekend.

The Patriot ride is this coming Sunday April 29th . They will be meeting and leaving from York High school. We will leave the York High School promptly at 1100 hours. Come out and show your support for the Veterans and motorcyclist. Great spot to view is near the York Hospital walk in clinic where the York Beach and York Village Fire Departments will be hanging the American Flag over Rt. 1 This ride will usually generate over ten thousand dollars that all goes to helping veterans in need.

Our thoughts and prayers for Corporal Eugene Cole's family and the Somerset County Sheriffs Office. RIP Corporal Cole.

National Drug Take Back Day will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the York Hannaford supermarket between the hours of 10am - 2pm. This is a great time to get rid of your expired, unused, or unwanted PRESCRIPTION medication only. NEEDLES WILL NOT BE TAKEN.

Jamie Robie will be receiving The Elks Drug Awareness Program’s Enrique S. Camarena Award on May 5th at the State of Maine Elks Convention in Waterville, Maine.
