Batesville Police Department News

As it has been proven in the past, our Coffee and Conversation Event at Hardee’s this morning was a blessing! We visited with many friends we knew, made some new friends, enjoyed meeting a nice couple passing through on their way to New Orleans and celebrated a young man’s birthday with him. Chief’s Dad, Mr. Bubba, joined us this morning and we put some delightful smiles on some faces young and old.......just by sharing a little kindness today! Thank you, Hardee’s for helping us spread hospitality......it ain’t hard with those delicious sausage and biscuit! Thanks BPD Staff for all you do! Thank you Panola Partnership for your support! We also thank our Mayor and Board of Aldermen for your continual support! We couldn’t do this without you! #coffeeandconversation #BPDstrong

Please be aware that Batesville Police Department has been made aware of a phone scam which is using the police department's phone number, 662-563-5653. The scammers are spoofing our phone number in an attempt to gain gift cards, money cards, and/or green dot cards. The scammer will call saying that they are an officer with Batesville PD and inform the citizen they have a warrant for their arrest. The scammer will then tell the citizen that the matter can be resolved if they go to one of the local businesses and purchase a pre-paid credit card. The scammer will then give the citizen an address to send the card to. The officers and staff at Batesville PD want you to know that we would not conduct business this way. It is a common occurrence for officers to call people to inform them of warrants for their arrest but will NEVER ASK FOR PAYMENT IN THIS FASHION. The officer will direct you to turn yourself in or contact the Batesville City Court Clerk. This scam also is not limited to Batesville PD. We have also received calls from citizens saying they have been contacted by other agencies where they are told something similar to this scam. If you receive a call like this please feel free to call or come see an officer at Batesville PD.

Highway 6 is back open! Thank you

It’s “No Shave November” at Batesville Police Department! The benefits go to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital! Any BPD employee that wishes to participate by not having to shave during November contributes $20.00. A spouse, or anyone in the public, may “buy out” the employee and make them shave by contributing $100.00 and he has to start all over!😳 We extend an invitation to any public citizen that wishes to be a part by making a donation, in check form only, payable to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Just bring it by the Police Department! Chief Jimmy McCloud says, “We want this to be a fun event, while also seriously being very much aware of a way we can be a part of helping to save lives. It’s personal for us. Many of our employees’ children and grandchildren have been patients and recipients of the awesome care and treatment at LeBonheur. We just want to give back.” ❤️ So, if you see some of our officers looking kind of scruffy, you know why! By the way, Chief McCloud was among the first to pay his $20.00 and his wife, Bessie, was the first to make a “buy out” contribution of $100.00 this morning! 😊❤️ The stash for LeBonheur is growing! Shown in the pictures are : Col. Kerry Pittman, Detective Captain George Williford, Lt. Billy Sossaman and Chief Jimmy McCloud and Chief Mccloud with his wife, Bessie.
